Ok I know I will probably hear sh*t about this but I changed out some led in my Egnater modules. On the Erect I changed the Led on Ch A to green for my clean channel. I did this for a change and so when i look at my rig I know that is green is my mesa'ish clean and red is overdrive. :D I changed the XTC to a blue led bla bla bla . So when I do the others I might do amber yellow for the SL and an led change on the EG5 but i dont know what colors yet. here is a pic from my cell phone so quility sucks. will post a better pic when i find my camera. lol

shipping on 12 led for the cheapest starts at $7.45 WTF!!!!! they could stick them in a package envelope for $5 at the post office. that means i spent 15 on shipping and 12 on leds
lol

Hey man, yeah I haven't been on lately..was out of town for a few weeks, friends visiting, just got a new job..things are hectic right now and I feel waaaaay behind on sleep. My love for egnater is still strong as ever haha.

Sucks about the shipping, but still the light mod is a nice little "fun for me" kind of thing.

congrats on the new job. I have been playing xbox way to much an need to catch up on some sleep also.lol

Ok i realized the green led is way to bright. This is because after checking my order they shipped me a 8,200 mcd instead of a 2,100 mcd. the mcd is Luminous Intensity Typ Iv (mcd) : Average in 2000. So I have to reorder the green, the blue on the XTC is perfect. So if any of you guys with experience soldering that where going to attempt this, here is what to look for. I do not recommend anyone trying to solder or mod their boards with out soldering experience, you can damage the pcb board and create a headache for yourself and who ever has to fix it,not to mention what it might do to you amp or preamp. My father started me doing electrical projects when i was 8 and even though I haven't had any schooling (except 1 semester in electronics in high school, A+ :D and weekly science reports on electronic parts for a year ) I have experience reading resistors and other components. I will re post pics of the green led after the change. Thanks and have a great day.

Different color LEDs have different current requirements. So what may seem like a reasonable brightness for a red LED may not be the same for green, blue, violet, etc. Instead of ordering new LEDs at different brightness, just change the current limiting resistor. If it's too bright just increase the resistance.

I thought of that ,i just didnt want to change the resistors. the other leds are fine and have a lower lumin.that green is the only one I have that is that bright at 8400mcd. an mcd of 2000 to 3000 is fine. i prefer 1600 to 2000 mcd. the blue in my xtc is 2100mcd and is easy to look at. It was only 40 cents so i will just change it out.

Yeah, I bitch about people modding Eggie Modules, but that green LED just looks "right". I think they should all have a green LED.

if they were all green then we would want to mod them to red and other colors. Its the nature of the beast.

Good information here. I had no idea they even came in different intensities.
They are using them in tactical flashlights. They dont soak up all the battery life like bulbs do. I have one in red for hunting so before dawn i can walk out to the tree stand and turn it off with out night blindness and deer cant see it. Green leds are in some stylus pen lights for hunters to mount on their hats so other hunters can see them with a 1/2 - 1 mile sighting. My mag AA light has 3 white leds with 2 flash speeds and 3 bightnesses and has a pure white, not a amber yellow white from a bulb. I have a tactical laser/light which has a strobe effect for disorienting an intruder or threat that is almost blinding. Leds are also great for flashing, they do not have the gas and element in a glass bulb, the element heats up and glows to produce the light which expands and contracts and greatly shortens its life span.
