Hey everyone..

So last night, I was doing some amp maintenance, and while doing so I removed the fuse holder [a 500ma fast blow fuse]. When attempting to replace the holder into the amp body, I pushed in and turned a little bit, and found it didn't "catch" into the amp- I removed it and found that I bend one of the little metal "wings" and broke the other one. Now the fuse will not stay inside the amp, it just pops in and out.

I managed to "wrig" it and have it stay in there temporarily, by wedging a toothpick next to the holder [like many people do with their straplock buttons]. Unfortunately, I have no sound coming out of the amp. The amp turns on, but there is no sound.

My questions are as follows:

1. Will the amp even turn on if the fuse is not making a connection?

2. Can the fuse not being connected cause a loss of sound?

3. Is it dangerous to try to get sound out of it if I know the fuse is not connected?

I emailed Egnater last night, waiting for a response. Hoping to get a new part asap so I can rock out..

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You need to have a fuse in there. No question about that. Many people who have had fuse problems in the past, have jumped the fuse entirely. This is dangerous. If something else goes wrong with the amp, and the fuse has been jumped, there's a big change you'll fry half of everything else.

My recommendation is, that is the holder is broken, order a new one and be patient. Once the new one is installed. Rock out.

Might drop by a local radio shack and see if they have the fuse holder and cap there. I say the whole fuse holder because I doubt they sell the caps only but at around 2 bucks you could be back in business and not have to wait on the shipping.

Just take the old cap in with you so they can match it up and you should be good.

There are only a few manufactures that make those fuse holders so they are pretty universal for the most part. I agree you should not try and run the amp while there is a known problem with it.

Send your mailing address to Jeff@egnater.com. We can mail you a replacement cap. If the actual fuse holder is broken, that will require removing the PC board. Doesn't sound like that is something you should do yourself.
