Hi, all. First post. I apologize for the newb question, but the only tube amps I've owned are combos.

After auditioning several amps, I finally found a match with the Rebel-20 head and 1x12 cab.

The face and top get pretty hot, even at low volumes, and I also smell an "electric" sort of smell (for lack of a better word) coming out of the amp. Is this normal?

Sorry for being paranoid...I'm just looking for some peace of mind because I was forced to buy a floor model from GC as it's all they had. I'm well within my 30-day return period and could probably swap it out at any GC.

Thanks in advance.

I'd take it back for a new one in the box. You should not be smelling that electrical "burning" smell. My guess is tube-related, but why chance it if you have a grace period to swap it out?

Also, did you match your impedance correctly to the cab?

Hey, Marvcus. Thanks for the response. Yes, I did match the impedance, 16 ohms.

I think I'll just swap it out. Thanks again for the advice.

Probably just a tube, but Marcus is right- Just swap it for another one. Still, never hurts to have spare tubes around. They all go eventually.
