I just purchased a Rebel 30 combo and it is great. Just the sound I was looking for. My question is what is the best way to use the silent record feature. Right now I'm running through my line 6 toneport and recording in Garageband. I guess my real question is what is the best hardware to use to get the true amp sound when using the silent record?

Thanks,

I would think this would be the best way. I recorded some clips with my R30 straight into my Boss BR-8, and it really did catch the warm and true tone of the amp that way. I would guess that if you weren't putting a lot of effects or processing/EQ you'd be just fine.

BTW, I'm fixing to start using Garageband myself, and I'm just planning on plugging straight into the back of my iMac (with an adaptor, of course!)

Let us know how it turned out - with clips!!!

I run my Rebel 30 1x12 through an Alesis mixer and use Cubase to capture. It works great. When I can save enough money I plan on upgrading to a Presonus 16.4.2 Firewire Digital Mixer, but that may be a ways down the road. :D

Have you noticed a fair amount of hiss when using the Silent Rec out? I thought I heard some on a clip that someone had submitted somewhere.
Sounded good otherwise.

I've noticed this with certain speakers - mostly laptop speakers. The clips that I recorded have that hiss on my MacBook, but when I listen to it through a better pair of speakers or headphones - no hiss. YMMV.
