Hey guys,

I'm looking to sell my REBEL 20 and MARSHALL 2x12 cab and condense to a RENEGADE. Although i love the REBEL, i owuld assume the RENEGADE is much better (as the 1200 price tag). I just need everything in a combo for easier transportation. Any thoughts on the cleans on the renegade vs the rebel?

The reason I am still debating is because the REBEL cleans sound so good! I have everything running through a TC NOVA SYSTEM for effects so I really only need a solid clean channel. I notice the RENEGADE has different tubes than the REBEL but is much louder 65W compared to 20W.

Just wondering people thoughts who either have used a RENEGADE or own one, if i should just keep the rebel or go for the renegade for sound improvements. Cant find a store to test it out either.

Tube wise, they're running basically the same thing in theory... EL34's are just the bigger brother to EL84's due to the difference in power from the Rebel to the Renegade. Same thing applies to the 6V6's vs. 6L6's. That being said if it's cleaner, cleans with much more headroom your lookin' for then the Renegade would probably be the way to go.
As far as transport goes...you might wanna check out a Renegade first...my experience is the combo's are pretty heavy. Built like brick houses but I've got a lousy back so I like the lighter portability of the rebel and the 1x12 cabs but that's just me. Check out youtube, their's a lot of really good clips of the renegade and it's cleans. Cheers.

I love my Renegade 112-great on both channels, not to heavy around 50 lbs. I'm going to build a 1x12 ext cab-cause the 2x12 combo or even the 2x12 cab is getting heavy 4 my 43 yr old rocker back.

Cleans on the Renegade can be almost anything you want them to be from sparkling Fender to overdriven Classic Rock and everywhere in between.

Of course you have to allow for some different nuances between amps, but I'd be shocked if you weren't satisfied with the variety of cleans on the Renegade. Frankly, there's more variety on the clean side then there is on the lead side. And the lead side is pretty cool!

Thanks for the input guys ..

briguy73 - I actually didnt know that about the tubes.. so in a sense the rebel is just a 1 channel little brother to the Renegade. The renegade is basically the bigger version with 2 channels. 50 pounds isnt bad for the combo cause my marshall cab alone is 50 pounds right now. I do love the tone on the rebel but the 20W i dont think will cut it for some live gigs.

The youtube videos are great .. I wish guitar center carried these cause i really want to test it out. They only have the heads in stock.

Does anyone know when the Renegades 112 came out were they after the Rebel?

I thought they were! So basically, you guys are saying that I should be able to get the clean tone on the Renegade that I now get on the Rebel or even better since there is more headroom? What about going from a 2x12 to an egnater 112 .. is that a noticeable difference in sound?

right now i love it at ...

I have had my Renegade for 6 months (212), love it but it is kind of heavy. The selling point for me was the foot switch, you can engage the fx loop for both channels or just one. I have a delay in my loop for my clean. On the other hand, whenever I go to GC i always take a few minutes to plug into a Rebel and just love it, but I have to have 2 channels. You also may find the fan a little annoying, I have had issues with mine but am in the process of working it out with Egnater. BTW, Nate is F'n awsome and has been a huge help.

the renegade sounds fine with the stock sovtek wa preamp tubes-but I did a preamp tube change-big improvement.
from v1-v6 I went : tungsol-eh-penta chinese-tungsol-stock sovtek-sovtek lps in the pi
