Hi, new user here !

After using a JTM-45 clone and a bunch of pedals for a couple of years, I realise I'm a channel-switcher guy at heart. The 45 has a killer clean/edge of breakup, but I never could find any pedal of combination of pedals with the punch and thickness of a full-fledged gain channel. And since I'm currently in a cover band playing '80s pop/rock (ala Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Queen, Toto, etc), I'm using gain tones quite abit these days...

I've done some research, watched a bunch of videos, and found out the Renegade might be IT for me. The dual master volumes look really great. Hence, the only other amp I'm really considering being the Hughes&Kettner Duotone (I've been using a H&K Triamp Mk1 for a couple of years, which I sold because it was really heavy, and I was only using 1B and 3A anyway).
I'm basically looking for a good thick Hendrixy clean (ala Bassman/JTM45) and a great hotrodded, smooth Marshall/Soldano flavor for gain tones.

So...the Renegade looks like the ultimate ticket, esp. with the Tube Mix, dual masters and (hopefully, but I'm not too worried, considering what I've heard of other Egnater amps) great serial FX loop. I'm planning on using it with my board (Boss CS-2, Maxon OD9, Boss CE-2 and Voodoo Lab Tremolo in front of the amp, Boss FV-500L and Eventide TimeFactor in the loop).
Any input on that ?

Which leads me to my other question: when will the Renegade become available ? Also, it looks like thomann.de will be stocking them, will they get them as soon as they ship ?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the less-than-perfect english, it's not my 1st language and I haven't gotten than much practice in a couple of years

The Renegade will be available worldwide as soon as it is ready to ship which should be by the end of this month. I expect to be doing final QC when I get back from Summer NAMM. Let's all keep our fingers crossed

Great news John, many thanks ! Just in time for the post-summer gear overhaul

Everyone is REALLY excited about the Renegade. I wish it would goddam GET HERE ALREADY!!! Not that I am thinking about a new amp, but well, maybe, kinda, sort, I could, you know...

It bugs me, because if the Renegade was available when I bought the Tourmaster I probably would have gotten that instead, or at least possibility.

:2thumbsup: :worship: :inlove:  :cheers2: :boxer: \:D/ :hys: :rawk: :worship: :salute:

welcome to the world of technology....buy a iPhone 3G...and the 3GS comes out...it's all development cycles man....if you have 8 amps come out at once...you screw yourself in the market...but doing things incrementally allows for a better cycle for revenue...

Hehe, I know where you're coming from.
For me, appealing as it looks, the Tourmaster was a no-go: a few years ago, I got rid of the Triamp, which I otherwise liked quite alot, because at more than 70lbs (plus a very heavy 6U rack with pedaltray), loading out the car at 4-5AM 3 times a week were a killer, so there's no way I'm going back to such a huge and heavy amp, especially since 2 channels plus my Strat are largely enough for me to cover alot of ground (and I don't really need modern metal tones anyway, so a souped-up Marshall is fine).

Oh, by the way, got a question: how will the Renegade go along with my Tube Screamer (Maxon OD9 actually) ? Can I use that as a lead boost (for more gain and mids) or am I better off using my CAE/MXR Boost/Line Driver as a gain boost for leads ?

At 95 pounds, there is no doubt that the 4212 is one heavy mother. Still, it kind of speaks well for Egnater in a sense- Not willing to sacrifice quality for less weight. Were I to do it again, I would probably keep it to the 1-12 Renegade, which is the only one without the tell-tale handles on the side- A dead giveaway for TOO HEAVY! It also has front-mounted controls, which is important to me and I don't think the other versions of the Renegade have it. It's got a few other features that would be neat also- tube mix being one of them.

Small update, might be of interest to some: Thomann is announcing they'll be getting the whole Egnater Guitar Center line on August 21st:

Pricing looks right (considering how US gear is often overpriced here in the EU), I'll bet the Renegade will be a hit, in the 1k euros range.
The cabs are priced very competitively too (I'm looking at the Tourmaster 212X one).

Oh by the way: how do these cabs compare with Engl, Fender Supersonic, Bogner Alchemist or Orange 2x12's ? Any input on that ?

Cool my shop will have them and the Rebel 30. Can't wait to hear them.
