Hi I'm new to this forum so forgive me if this question has been answered.

I have an Egnater Renegade 212 combo which i'm more than happy with but i want to replace the footswitch. I have no use for the Effects/Reverb/Main2 switches, i only use it to change amp channels. Because of its size it wont fit on my pedal board and seeing as 3 out of 4 switches are never used, I was wondering if there are any 1 button channel switches out there that are compatable and wont damage the amp?

Ive emailed Egnater about this 3 times and still no reply :-(

Ive heard that Boss footswitches work but I didnt want to try anything incase I ruined the amp.

Many Thanks

Mike

Email me a begnater@aol.com. I can send you the info. Where did you send 3 emails to and what was your question in those emails?

Hi Bruce

Thank you for your fast reply. The 3 emails were entirely my own fault, after checking my Sent Box i realized I Mis-spelled the email address :-)

My Renegade 212 is great, I'd just like a smaller footswitch for changing Channels, as i don't use the Effects/Reverb/Main2 switches.

Thanks again for your reply

Almost any single button footswitch will work. Even a two button. Or, pick one of these..

I'm pretty sure the switching in the Renegade is the same as the Rebel, and that means any latching function will work, so any of the switches on that page will work. I believe the channel switching is on the Tip, and the Main2 is on the Ring, so your best bet will be a single switch from Loop-Master, and a standard TRS cable. A single switch from Loop-Master will use Tip-to-Sleeve, but using a Tip Ring Sleeve cable will keep your Main2 from being engaged.

Thanks Klark

That site is great, the mini channel switcher would be ideal, nice and small. I can't see any TRS cables on there? maybe i'm just looking in the wrong places. I had an email from Bruce egnater saying that the TRS cable would need stereo inputs with the ring disconnected to disengage the main 2 switch but if you think it'll work with a standard cable that would be great. Could you recommend something please, I'm not quite sure what to look for, lol :-)

Thanks for your help

Mike :-)

Yes, as Bruce stated, the ring would need to stay disconnected, so any standard TRS cable would work, providing you DO NOT want the Main2 ENgaged. Have you ever tried just keeping the Main2 on all the time?? If you can make that work, then any standard TS cable (a regular guitar cord) would work fine, as the longer sleeve would keep the Main2 engaged at all times. Personally, that's what I would do because there's no need to purchase a TRS cable.. You can just use a regular guitar cord for your footswitch.

BTW, you can test it now if you want. Just plug in a regular guitar cord into the footswitch jack, and you'll see Main2 come on immediately. Then you can just take a penny or a screwdriver and short the tip to the sleeve which will kick you into the ch2.

What if I was wanting to use everything but the reverb? Or possibly just the channel switch and main 2? i can leave the loop on all the time and just have 2 buttons. One for changing between channel 1 and 2, and the other to engage the main2 (lead boost)?

Would this work?

Hey Mike, you think you could forward me that email that Bruce sent you about doing this?

Hey Mike, you think you could forward me that email that Bruce sent you about doing this?

Hey man

The info Bruce emailed me was just a schematic of the Renegade amp, I'd forward it to you but ive since deleted it, it was sent back in August. Best thing to do is contact Bruce and he'll send you the right stuff, his email is somewhere on this thread it think.

Sorry I can't be of anymore help

To each their own, but I think the footswitch offered on the Renegade is genious!

It offers all of the capability I am after while playing live, and it is very small and light weight. Why anybody wouldn't want to have the footswitch capability of channel selection, effects loop, reverb and solo boost that comes stock with the Renegade is beyond me, but that is just my opinion.

If one chooses to only use it for channel switching....no problem, but even just having the ability to kick reverb in/out provides nice versatility of sounds in both channels...not to mention being able to kick in the solo boost for a specific lead passage in either channel.

I also love the footswitchable effects loop to "bypass" my Nova System when desired. The Nova System doesn't offer a "bypass" footswitch button which is an oversight on TC Electronics as far as I am concerned. However, the lack of a "bypass" button on the NS is a complete non issue for me because the Renegade footswitch allows me to bypass the effects loop of the amp...thereby, bypassing the NS with a single push of the button.

Anyway, do whatever works best for you.

I agree that it is a great footswitch! I was just thinking that i dont really use the reverb and would like a smaller footprint if possible. Maybe like using 3 seperate small switchs for Channel, Loop and Main 2..........Just wondering what will and wont work..

veets:

I realize that my post didn't address your question at all, and I apologize for that.

Honestly, I don't know of any method to do what you are requesting....short of using the stock Renegade footswitch and opting to never step on the reverb button to activate that circuit.

While what you are requesting is probably doable.......I doubt that the end result would be more compact or practical than just using the stock footswitch already provided with the Renegade and opting to not use the footswitchable reverb.

Sorry that I cannot help you further , and wish you the best of luck.
