Any compare these 2 amps The Egnater Renegade vs the Blackstar HT40 1x12 or Stage Ht60 2x12? I have been hearing rave reviews on these HT model amps from Blackstar!

I have the Egnater Renegade now .. but the Blackstar HT 40 and HT 60 is way cheaper and seems to almost sound better .. is that possible?

Looking to try one out. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have posted a demo of the HT 40 up on my YouTube channel, it's a good amp especially for the money but I'd be surprised of it was as good as a Renegade? I've only seen the Renegade demo'd at a Bruce Egnater clinic but I was really impressed.

If you don't hear the difference in sound's quality between a Renegade & a Blackstar HT40...buy the HT40 ;) !Seriously, they are not in the same league.Blackstar uses solid state clipping for their lead channel and it sounds like a distortion pedal. The first time i used a Blackstar,i was impressed but it didn't last...Even the HT-Dual (same stuff as in the HT40,btw),i couldn't use it anymore. If people like the HT40,i don't mind. Why not? But don't compare with "the real deal"  !

So when you say "don't compare to the real deal" - Is the "Real Deal" the Egnter Renegade? I actualyl already have the Renegade and was lookign to swap it in for a Blackstar ... I haven't played the blackstar yet though ... Would that be a downgrade?

Yep,i would think so.But it really doesn't matter to you.The HT40 could be what you're looking for and that's all that matters,in the end.Go for what suits you the most. Good luck !

I think for that organic distortion, the Renegade will win out, but just because it is more oganic and chewy doesn't mean it will do everything better or sound better for some stuff. really depends on what you want to use it for I think.

I had a Blackstar Series One 100 and just couldn't get on with it, The modes were too far apart for me, the bright was bright, the warm was warm but no normal middle ground, no eq balance. to use the bright mode and eq it for not so bright then switch to the warm mode all I got was way too warm, mud, switch over to the dirty and the eq was again just too far off, it drove me mad and had to go. I loved the super crunch but the rest of the amp didn't do it for me. Then I got the Renegade and everything that the Blackstar was meant to do, the Renegade does way better, both channels get eq and the fancy british, american isf knob "please" the Renegade does it with valves. The Renegade is one of the best amps I've had in twenty years of playing and if your going to swop it, all your going to do is swop it for a better known name, not a better amp. Dude....don't do it....you'll regret it.

Thanks Keith .. Good To know .. i appreciate it. I think I am going to hang on to the Egnater ... Something just doesnt seem right getting rid of it .... Thanks again.

The Egnater that I have, 2x12 cab and Renegade Head does look like an old bass amp, but it rocks so I can live with the look. Saying that the Blackstar HT amps are no lookers. I don't know where you are, I'm in UK so the servicing is a concern with the Egnater, GuitarGuitar seem to be slightly better than Dawsons and I'd not be seen dead in Dawsons. I had the Series One for 18 months and Blackstar had it back 3 times for the same problem and once because the courier dropped it on it's return to me, but they were a pain to deal with, it was only when it stopped working did they fine a bad solder joint, it then sounded fantastic but I had lost confidence in it and when I heard the Rebel 30 it had to go. Then rebel 30 had a problem and had to go back and Sounds Great didn't have another one which is why I have the Renegade. I would have had another Series One, but the Egnater's are better sounding amps. Most of what the Blacksters do live's under a big heatsinc, the Egnater's do it through valves.

Thanks for the pics & infos,Keith.Btw,the Series One are Much more expensive than the HT40's or HT60's...

I tried a Blackstar once- I don't know which model- and I wasn't impressed. I just got the Renegade 212- Great amp!

Did you keep your TM and bought a Renegade or was it a swap?

Swap. The Tourmaster was great, but I got tired of that 100 pounder! A few other things- noisy line out, not such a great reverb. I do miss some things about it- the four channels put a lot of flexibility at your feet- but I like the Renegade a lot.

I played both amps in the same day (renegade & ht40). I was not very impressed with the Blackstar. Not really a bad amp, but it just felt and sounded very cold and sterile, like a SS amplifier.

The Renegade blew me away on the other hand. Now that's a nice sounding amp! Warm and creamy with just enough edge on the od channel, and the clean is seriously one of the better ones on any channel switcher I've heard or played. VERY impressed with that amp.
