I obviously dont post much here, but I have to rave about this amp! I saw this for sale in the classified section, and it grabbed my attention, since I was pondering a new head and was looking a modded Marshall type sound that I keep hearing in my head, but all my recent purchases have left me still wanting.....something? I know you all know the feeling. My last three amps have been.....
1. VHT Deliverence 120......Great amp, but something lacking in the midrange for me. Hard to explain. Lower volume tones are uninspiring and brittle.
2. Roccaforte Custom 40. Again..a great amp, but doesnt start to sing until you crank the power section, which is rare these days. I know...please no lectures on the fact that its not a bedroom amp!
3.Deizel Einstien....Great amp again, but more of a modern tone, and to me its a little spongy on the response. I was thinking it was going to be a little tighter/stiffer amp. Similar in feel to a lot of Boogies stuff...really easy to play lead with...pretty foregiving with the gain up for leads. This amp does have a great clean sound though....very nice.
Now on to the Egnater....this amp is everything ive ever wanted my past Marshall amps to be! Perfect feel...not too stiff, not too loose, midrange is perfection! Organic, yummy chewy perfection! Voiced just right in my opinion. The treble is great to....not too bright like most Marshall ive had. Enough to crunch, but not ear piercing in any way. The bass response in this amp is out of control! In a good way of course! With the depth control in the back, you should be able to make this head work with a vast array of speaker combos and cabinets. Im playing thru a Diezel 4x12 loaded with g12H's and it just rocks in every way possible. Long story short, Im the happiest ive been in a long time with my tone. Id say I might not be in the market for another amp ever...but we all know thats not gonna happen!!! Anyone in the market for a modded Marshall type amp.....if you have a chance to snag one of these up...dont hesitate.
