Hey, y'all - bought a used TM combo, and I love the overall tone, but the low end is kinda loose and flubby. I have heard there is a mod, and a way to look at the serial number to find out if the amp was built before the mod became standard. Where is the serial number on the combo? What is the mod, how do I get it, and is it difficult to do? Can I get a local tech to do it for me? Like I said, I really like the overall tone of the amp, but the looseness on the low end is bothersome to me. Anyone have the mod? I appreciate the help!

If it is new enough I am not sure it will have the M. I'd call Egnater and see if the can check on the amp via the serial number. They could tell you whether it is modified and what the mod is if it is not. I have been told it is simple.

Thanks for the replies, y'all! Where is the serial number on the TM combo? I don't see one anywhere!!

It should be on the back panel where the speaker jacks are..

I had the M mod done on my TM, and it made a big difference ....try using different pre amp tubes as well

The serial number on mine actually fell off at one time- I had to tape it back on. Call the place you bought it from. They should have a record of it.

john@egnateramps.com should be able to help. If it does sound "flubby", chances are it does not have the modification. John should be able to supply the mod info also.
