Hi guys,
I know. This topic has been spoken and discussed a lot.
I have read all the topics this Rig Talk forums.
Now I'm using EH 6V6GT too hot again (Bound to R29 Resistor, chronic problem?)
I'm looking for a slightly more gain sounds. So, I want to use EL34.
My amp is R29 220 Ohm 10w. If I replace it with 470 ohm or 510 ohm, can I use it with JJ EL34 without problems?
This is what Bruce himself saying (https://www.rig-talk.com) about using EL34 tubes in a Tweaker 15:
"The EL34 tubes draw way more filament current than 6V6, which is not a good thing.
Certainly can cause excessive heat and even damage the power transformer.
Also, check that the 10 watt output tube cathode resistor R29 is 470-510 ohms.
Very early ones had a lower value (220 ohm) because the original tubes drew less current.
Suggest JJ 6V6 as a reliable choice."
