I have been going through this for a while.

I initially chose the Tweaker 15 over the Tweaker 40 because of it advantage for low volume home practice.

I bought the Tweaker 15 Head and Tweaker 1x12 cab about a month ago.
Then I bought a Jet City JCA22H Head and another Tweaker 1x12 cab, I love this cab.

After getting the 2 channel JCA22H I really wanted channel switching capability in my Tweaker.

Yesterday I returned my Tweaker 15 Head and ordered a Tweaker 40 Head.

I've only tried the Tweaker 40 in a local GC where it is loud.
I remember the Tweaker 15 sounding a little better at low volumes, but I am willing to give that up for the flexibility of channel switching.

I play a lot of Santana type of lead stuff where I go from very clean or gritty cleans to mid-high gain smooth sustain in the same song, with the Tweaker 15 that involves pedals or messing with the amp mid-song.

My ideal situation would be to leave my pedals at home and just be able to run a guitar in to my amp for all of my gain needs. I really want a simple rig.

Does the Tweaker 40 give away any Tone compared to the Tweaker 15 which sounds fantastic if you don't mind a single channel amp?

I have went through all the scenarios:

non-master volume amps with pedals
single channel master volume amps with pedals
channel switching amps 2-4 channels

In my heart I know I prefer the flexibility of channel switchers.

I realize my Tweaker 15 cab is not OK for very high volume with the Tweaker 40, but if I gig I can bring both 1x12s or just mic it, I never push more than 15 watts volume wise anyway. I prefer the tone of the Tweaker cab with the Celestion G12H30 to the higher watt Rebel 1x12.

I also ordered a Startouch A/B switch if I want to run a dual amp rig with the JCA22H.

So, what say you, did I make a mistake or is the Tweaker 40 close enough in tone at low volumes?

it's close enough...and you'll dig the extra tweak features

there IS something magical with the 15s though...I believe they really have this little bit of mojo that the 40 just doesn't...I wish the 15s were loud enough for a band, I'd still have mine

but I DO dig the 40- it's my main gig amp since they came out and I've had zero problems with it...and it has it's own thing going on, plus all the features- I don't regret getting it at all

Thanks, I already returned the 15 and received my 40 almost a week ago.
Just having that 2nd channel makes it so much better for me.

I think I can officially say, I am done with single channel amps.
I just love the simplicity of being able to plug straight in to the amp, no pedals necessary, and go from clean to dirty with one press of a pedal.

I will admit, I do keep a TS808 out front as a boost and a Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master Reverb/Delay in the loop.
