I have been having an ongoing volume issue with my Tourmaster. It turns out they will not cover it because it wasn't purchased from an "authorized dealer". I am the original owner. The amp showed up brand new in an unopened Egnater box with the blank warranty card. I guess the problem is I bought it off of ebay from an unauthorized vendor named Cargo Largo. The part that pisses me off is that nowhere in the owners manual can I find that you have to buy it from "authorized dealer" to have a valid warranty. The only thing it says is that you must be the original owner which I am as this amp was not purchased second hand. Here is the quote from Nate's email to me. "If it is not from an authorized dealer you can not be the original owner, as whom ever you bought it from bought it first. If there are not an authorized dealer then the item is in fact sold to you second hand." Cargo Largo more than likely bought it from UPS of FedEx as unclaimed freight so it never got to an "authorized dealer". What are your thoughts on this?

Well their support their rules I guess, I know from your point of view that sucks but they are running a business! I would suppose that they can dictate to their dealers what conditions the kit is kept in, turned over in etc. for all Egnater know yours was sitting outside in the rain for a week!

I'd bite the bullet and get a local tech to have a look over it.

It is at the tech now. I see their point to an extent. I still feel screwed a little but thats the way it goes. I don't know if I would have changed anything because I got the amp for about $500 under retail even though it was brand new. Plus, I have typically had good reliability with guitar equipment. I gigged with a Marshall 9200 that worked flawlessly for 10 years besides the occassional tube issue. This amp is going on 2 1/2 years old and I am having issues.

Check the website below. Interesting information. The Egnater warranty conditions are fairly standard for the industry. I understand your frustration but this is what the internet, Ebay, CargoLargo etc. has created. Makes it hard for legitimate retail stores to survive. My recommendation is to research who you buy anything (not just a guitar amp) from and question how they can give such a big discount and what happens in case of a defect.

Bruce, I understand Egnater's position on this. Lesson learned I guess. As I said, I may have purchased the amp anyways at the reduced price and taken my chances even if I had known the warranty would be voided. It was an item up for bid on ebay and I won at $850.00. I will still come at ahead unless the repair exceeds $550.00 or so which is highly unlikely. At least I have this info moving forward. I will let you know kind of diagnosis the tech comes back with. Thanks.

Amp is back from the tech who says he couldn't find anything wrong. This is a very reputable place in Dallas so I guess I trust their judgement. I'm stupmed! This amp just isn't as loud as it used to be with the same settings I have always used. I had mentioned that I used to have an Egnater M4 that this happened to. The volume came back in the middled of a song at practice but I never did figure out what it was. I know it wasn't the power amp I plugged into the other channel and got the same results. At least I know that everything checks out which gives piece of mind for now.....

Did you take it to Slemmons?

If this happened with an M4, too, have you tried different cables/guitars/etc? Maybe its a bad 12ax7? Bad volume
pot on the guitar?

I had an M4 with no problems whatsoever and wouldn't hesitate to pick up another. It just seems odd
that you had the same issue with a preamp and your Tourmaster.

I took it to audio electronics. I had the M4 about 3 years ago and have gone through several cables, speaker cabinets, speaker cables, tubes, etc. In addition, I was was/am playing several 4 different guitars so I'm pretty certain it is the amp. I went to practice last night and everything worked out pretty good. I just leave the loop on all the time and turn up the effects return to about 3o'clock while the effects send is at noon and that seems to get the master volume to where I remember it being. It really is a perception thing. I don't want to look at the front of the amp and see the master volume sitting at 2o'clock when I used to have it about 10:30 or 11:00.
