Hi this is my first thread haha so here i go
first of all i just bought a diezel einstein 100watts over a week ago with el34's, i am extremely happy as the tone on the amp is so amazing.
i got a couple of questions first im curious to see if i can get the clean channel to have more of a breakup point in a more vintage sought of way, i know the amp is design in a specific way but im just curious, i have done a couple of gigs with the amp already, i play mainly funk soul, heavy rock on the lenny kravitz side leaning towards hendrix too and zepplin, my question is im finding it a bit hard to get the clean channel to feel right for the clean to breakup stuff, is there any reccomendations things i could look at setting the amp to do with the master volume maybe? i run the master from nothing to where i can put it normally doesnt go past 9oclock as it can get too loud, should i get a hotplate or similar, would that enrich the clean towards more what i want?
can in remove 2 powertubes to find that breakup point earlier? would it damage the amp in anyway? if i can which ones should i pull out?
dont get me wrong i do love the clean its so gorgeous, and distortion channel is absolutely amazing the best lead tone i have ever had, im inlove...
thanks for the help, very greatly apreciated

hmmm I think you cannot obtain breakup in the clean ch. it's too clean.

we don't you try the something Stephen (C-4) recommended.... install some low wattage tubes (5 watts or something) and taht way you can turn it up and get some saturation taht way.......................but honestly don't know what to say.

yeah, i think i remember someone saying he installed EL84 so the amp breaks up.

I run mine with the gain on channel one at about 9 oclock or just a tad higher. This way I get clean on mode one, mild beakup on texas mode 2, and a fairly heavy but very articulate crunch on mode 3. Then I set channel two for heavier distortion and lead type gain. I have all 4 sounds available with differing gain levels and at this level all three modes on channel one have virtually the same level in output which will work well when I do the footswitch mod. And yes I know it's not mean't to be a 4 channel amp (and really still isn't, just 3 gain levels in channel one) but it works and works well so why not. Newer ones may be a bit different, mine is a very early one, serial number 008, but it sounds better than anything I have ever played thru or owned (and I own a LOT of amps right now from Bogners to Mesa's). The mode two at 9 oclock setting for the preamp gain (or less) would give you I think what you are looking for. Good luck. Hope this helps.

thanks for the repply guys, im wondering if taking 2 of the power tubes out can cause any issues on the amp? so it run at a seudo 50watts and i can get that powertube saturation happening earlier instead of all preamp to get to feel more "vintage" if that makes sense... anyone tried this?
i might try the lower wattage tubes also, do you guys know what tubes i should get for that?
thanks alot for all the input

I have the 50w version, and I still can't get breakup in the clean mode.

you'll have to go the low wattage tubes ask C-4, PM him
