Hey all I was just curious if the Einstein had a hum trim pot - I've got this weird buzz/humish noise but it's only one CH1 mode 1 and CH2 - it's really annoying and I can't figure out and wondering why it shows up on the cleanest channel as well as the heaviest but not those in between!

Thanks,

Dallas

The hum trimmer affects the whole amp (the heater to ground actually) - so your problem is caused by faulty preamp tubes.

Hey Duesentrieb!

To the rescue again I see :) - I've tried moving pre amp tubes around but I'm wondering if it's just a bunch of them that are noisy so I guess I'll just order a whole new set!

Thanks,

Dallas

I just put in an order for 6 brand new pre amp tubes, if I still have the noise after replacing all of those I'll go from there! Should be here in a few days.

Hey all... I got a whole new set of pre amp tubes installed and the noise is still very present on only CH1 clean and CH2 - texas and mega are perfect just normal amp white noise... any idea what can cause this stupid buzzing :(

Thanks,

Dallas

Heres a clip of the issue I'm having:

1st - Clean Channel with the buzzing noise
2nd - Switch to texas/mega buzzing is totally gone
3rd - Click it over to lead and buzzing comes back

So all new pre amp tubes, buzzing only on clean and lead... not on middle what the hell!

Help :(

I'm behind a firewall at work and will listen later today.

Prepare to be asked for the serial # and a pic of the internals. Could be a cap . . .

No problem, I can provide both rapidly - I can take pics later today and the serial is 003/089.

Thanks again for all your help! You guys are seriously the best.

If you need any other specific gut shots please ask I will do my best to get the appropriate angle necessary.

Thank you again so much for your time and help! I've had it into two different techs that have not fixed the problem and purchased all new pre amp valves.

It almost sounds like a bad cable or a loose ground wire on the pickup... Strange that it's not happening on mode 2. I'm sure Peter will figure it out, though. Looks like our amps were sitting side by side on the bench. Mine is 003/090. :) Good luck!

Haha yea man, looks like I got the evil twin hahaha. Thanks for your support!

It does sound very similar to something like a lose ground cable etc... and if it was happening on every channel and mode thats where I would be looking as well! Its just so bizzare that it happens on ch1 m1, but not 2 or 3, and then on ch2... really crazy.

Looking forward to having this puppy crankin!

Hey Peter,

Thanks, I just left him a message - hope to get this figured out soon... after playing this amp I honestly don't even enjoy turning on any other ones out there, so if it's not working right I just play an acoustic guitar... :(

Dudes I FIXED MY AMP!!!

I don't know what happened, but in a last ditch effort I was going to try and move the hum trim pot just to find out if that was the issue, so I was marking with a pen where the original position was and just poking it with the pin, there was a little click almost like tiny static and the noise went instantly away on all channels!!!!!!

WOOHOOO!!!!!
