Hi

I've gone through the biasing tutorial on the site and everything's fine except I'm either not using my multimeter leads right or they're the wrong type. Here the type I have; http://www.multimeterwarehouse.com/stl083f.htm .

Do I need a different lead? from my attempts I haven't been able to get a good reading of the current, the leads don't 'sit' on the points. Tips please?

Thank you

Well, they need to be long enough to reach the points inside. You could either simply take a hard wire or buy some leads with longer tips.
Set DMM to DC Ampêres ! 200mA DC . . .

Get plug type leads. I also found that that the stick types didn't work well with my Einstein combo's bias test points.

Hmm I had it on 20mA last time  . I'm done, 67mA for a pair of SED el34 tubes. I guess the pointy tips work fine, but it would be nice to invest in the plug types; I just can't find any near my place as hard as that it is to believe.

Thanks!

bumpage...

it's that time again for new power tubes...

Olaf or anyone who knows; how can I tell if my multimeter is faulty? I'm getting zero for current, it's either broken or I'm doing it wrong. Is there any way to test the multimeter current readings on some other appliance or something?

The thing is that I have my doubts its broken since I just replaced it with a new (identical) multimeter at the store and I'm still getting zeros :( . Obviously I was successful the last time I biased the amp, but it's not working out this time...

Help!
