Hi everybody!
I'm new to the forum as I don't call a diezel amp my own. But that's going to change in the next days. Currently I'm playing through an Engl Fireball but I'm not satisfied at all due to various reasons. But the most important fact is, that it just doesn't cut through the mix and of course it's lacking flexibility (no vintage sounds here!). I already decided to buy a Einstein head but I'm not quite sure wether to get the 50 W or the 100 W head. I play in 2 bands, one old school metal band and a classic rock cover band and we do play loud. But still it's mostly little venues we play in.
Any recommendations and experiences from your side?
Looking forward to some expert responses.
Keep rocking.

i had been into the same situation and choosed the 100. the fact is that you can make it a 50 watt version with just putting out a pair of tubes. the 50 watt version isnt ready to be upgradet to 100 watts without modding.
another thing which has been told quite a few times is that 100 watt arent much more louder than 50 watt , the headroom saturation just appears a little bit later and it sounds thicker than 50 watt. but that are just told stories, i dont know if its true . never tried myself.

choose the 100 watt ;)

The Einie sounds good at relatively low volumes so either version will do, however:

1) Personally I like the headroom of a 100W amp

and

2) You can mix 2 different pairs of output tubes on the 100W version. Admitedly I don't, but it's an option.

I don't think that there's a massive cost difference either. Great sounding amplifier, simple to use...

100 watt.

You never know when you need the extra horsepower. Plus the tube mixing feature is a really good one. Planning on taking advantage of it soon. Maybe mixing a pair of KT-88s with EL-34's. KT-66's with 5881's? The list goes on and on.

Hi again!
Thanks for your good and sound advice. I was already leaning towards the 100 W version for the obvious reason of more headroom. You never know.
Can't wait to get the Einstein and finally kick out the Engl.
Keep on rocking.

Hi evh, I have a 50 watt Einstein. I use it in small bars to giant clubs. I jam with a loud drummer and never turned this thing up past 4. I have owned a lot of amps...still do. Love 100 watters and 50 watters. It seems to me with a great amp like the Einstein losing headroom isn't much of an issue. The amp just sounds sweeter pushing the tubes a bit harder.
