wondering if i should be turning the volumes up and just cracking the masters or should i be cranking the masters and just cracking the volumes.
seems like i get a smoother responce from the volumes up and the masters just cracked.
tell what you think

i've tried both approaches and i've been able to get a better unity between the two channels by turning the channel volumes up and keeping the master down or tuning it to taste depending on gig volume. much happier this way.

thanks mr nixon i tend to agree.
just wanted to see what the consensus was out there
any one else want to chime in

Be careful, this could be a problem if you are using effects in the FX loop, if I recall correctly, the channel volumes provide a boost past 12 o clock, meaning that you can overdrive your FX input if you run them too high.

Channel volumes at noon. Masters to volume taste. Reference: the Einstein manual, several board users and my own experience over the last cpl years. Trust your ears. :)

+1
Adjust channel volumes around 11 to 12 o'clock, so you have the desired balance between channels when switching. Then turn the master volume up to reach your band's irritation threshold (for a normal human drummer this should be at around 3 o'clock) and enjoy

Well, I used to play channel volumes at 12-2 & master at 12-3 (usually 3). Cbomb at these volumes sounded like a dream! :D

To answer your question: do what sounds best to you.

I also run the channel volumes around noon, but guys, I NEVER get past 10 o'clock on the master, not at reherasals, not live, not in the studio. It's already SO LOUD!

I don't remember having it lower than 11. :D

Yes, my bandmates hate me!

I suppose that you are the only one guitarist in the band, or else you're having a serious enemy mate.

Thanks to all for your input
This forum is the shiznit
it also seems like the amp runs quieter with the new volume settings

I also lean toward the maxed channel volume side. The amp plays and sounds differently that way.

I run my channel at about 2-3oclock and my master at noon with speakers that have a 102 DB sensitivity. I like it F'n loud!
