Hi guys!
I just finished a recording session in my studio. We did some guitar tracking. The amps involved were my Einstein a Dual Rectifier. (And a nice old AC30 that just isn't comparable).
To record I used an E906 and a Royer ribbon. Both amps were played through the same cabinet, a 12 year old big Mesa cab that sounds really nice btw. From the mics to two neve pres and into the apogee ad.
The guitarist played a SG mostly heavy riffs and the Mesa strangely sounded aggressive and bright but at the same time muddy. We played a lot with settings and could get it to sound pretty OK but after hours of tweeking;-) The clean sound was really nice, though.
Then just for the kicks we tried the Einstein and bang, everthing we were looking for was there without a lot of tweaking. The sound was transparent and smooth without mud and just sat right in the mix. The low end was spectacular and thumping with palm mutes. Really nice!!
The thing that struck me most was that it was so easy to get a killer sound of the Einstein!
Man, I love this amp!
Thanks Peter!
Best,
Stefan
