Since getting my Einstein I've tended to follow the usual guidelines - start with everything at 12 o'clock then tweak a bit. That always sounded great, but at last night's rehearsal I thought "what the hell" and (on Ch1 Mode 3) took the mids way down to 9.00 pushed the gain and deep upto 3.00 and let rip. Basically I got the best guitar sound I have ever heard in over 20 years of playing. I'm sure this kind of scooped sound would get a bit lost when playing with the full band, but on its own for my solo slot at gigs it will be the absolute business. Don't be afraid to scoop those mids!

Hahaha...probably sounds a lot like channel two on herbert with mid cut.

Interesting.

Quite like to try it but as our other guitarist has an Engl Invader 150 I think I'll get a little lost!!

boosted mids for me! but whatever works for you and your guitars is all that really matters!

I never understood that scooped mid garbage. Not only is it stupid being that the guitar does NOT have those low frequencies that are produced when scooping (that's why it sounds like ass in a band), it sounds like total shit in a mix and it just doesn't work. If you want to crank the bass and scoop the mids get a Bass. It amazes me how many people know so damn little about the instrument they chose to play. Makes me laugh.

Then does anyone EVER stop to ponder if the greatest tones on the planet, Johnson, Malmsteen, SRV etc ever "sk0Oped De MIdZ"? See.. Funny ain't it?

That's just IT, it never works and it never will. listen to the players that do that and use those settings. It doesn't work they sound like shit and play like shit as well so it's all relative.

Actually, I'd like to hear a very talented or virtuoso player that uses those settings because those players know what a guitar is for and how it should sound. All others should stick to korn or other bubblegum music and quit pretending they play guitar.

That's pretty arrogant dude. A guitar tone is - the last time I checked - a matter of taste. If he digs the scooped tone, how does that make his knowledge of the instrument any worse?

Especially since he originally said:

+1 it is a matter of taste, and there were some GREAT players with scooped tone, like hetfield and dimebag. lets try to keep it polite in here

Arrogant or not it is what it is.

I'd explain but with the stance you're taking there's no chance you'll understand or listen. You see there's ALWAYS someone that knows more than those that THINK they do. If said person (the one that knows) tries to offer some advice, right away, you can always count on the least knowledgable person to stand up and say what you just did, so...

You're right, guitar tone has nothing to do with what a guitar is supposed to sound like or those frequencies that the instrument should and should not display. I have no idea what I was thinking, you know your stuff.

Yeah, why don't we just forget about this forum and just ask mr. FriedChickenBandit directly for the ultimate answers, eliminate the middle man altogether!

Anyways, sorry for my obviously wrong opinion ;) Peace
