Einstein switching problem

Dear all,

I have the following problem with my Einstein. It is one with a Tubelit Einstein Roadie installed which
allows me to switch between the 3 modes of channel 1 and channel 2. I want now to switch my Einstein
with a Midi switcher (which I already bought: Rocktron Midi Mate) and a midi switch controller (which
I also already bought: Nobels MS-4). After contacting Bernhard of Tubelit about this question, he told
me that with this MS-4 and a midi controller it is quite straightforward: follow the scheme that he forwarded
me and that is attached to this message. The jacks go into the MS-4 that closes its switches-midi controlled.
If the switch of jack mode 1 is closed, mode 1 is activated, if the switch of jack mode 3 is closed, mode 3 is activate, ... etc. If none of the switches is closed, mode 2 is activated.

But it does not work. I did not used the MS4 and midi controller yet,
I just applied a short circuit to the jacks indicated in the attached scheme. When all jacks are open (no
short circuits/closed contacts) it should switch to mode 2 of channel 1, but it goes to channel 2 instead : the
light of channel 2 stays on all the time whatever contact I close...

Since Bernhard is unavailable until May 17, I post this question to you, hoping to get some ideas from the specialist.

Kind regards,

Jan

Let's see...
I'm not familiar with the tubelit mod, but I'll try to help.
If I undestand correctly the tubelit mod switches the 4 modes of the Einstein, but not the master volumes. This switching is done through a 5 pin DIN jack (the left side in your schematic)
Do you also have the Tubelit footswitch? Does that work OK?
You say that whatever you do the amp stays on Ch2, that would indicate that the connection between pins 3 and 4 is always closed. Even so, if you shorten the other pins you should hear some clicks, the relays inside the amp are switching the 3 modes on Ch 1, even if the amp is still on Ch2. Please verify this and get back with the answer.
Also, it shoud be noted that the front panel Mode switch should be set in the middle position for the external switching of the modes to work.

Thanks for your reply.
I have been testing this evening and found out how it should work: measured the closed and open switches of
the tubelit footswitch for the different modes and then tried it with just a midi cable and close and opening
connections between pins of the din connector to the center pin (ground). It seems to work as follows (and
this is not according to the file I received from tubelit):
- channel 2: all pins of the midi connector open
- channel 1, mode 2: pin 3 connected to ground (center pin)
- channel 1, mode 1: pin 3 connected to ground AND pin 2 connected to ground
- channel 1, mode 3: pin 3 connected to ground AND pin 4 connected to ground

--> totally differently than what the tibelit pdf-file explains (and what Bernhard emailed me) ... I have fed
this back to him hoping to get a confirmation.

As soon as all components of my midi-switching system is arrived and installed I will post all details ...
