Hello,

I've got stock tubes in my Einstein and am not looking to improve the sound, just want to know what my options are when I do decide to retube. That said, what tubes are you liking in the different positions of the Einstein? All 12AX7 or different types? And have you liked the sound of your tubes more or less than stock tubes for your type of music?

Thanks!

I use stock tubes in my Einstein, but I did change out V-1 and V-2 after several months to NOS Mullards. The rest are all stock from the company.
I just like the tone from old Mullards in the first two pre's. Personal taste.

Hi Joey,
The tone of NOS Mullards to me, seem more open, and natural sounding to my ears. The bass is deeper, the treble is not nearly as brittle sounding, yet definitely there, and the mids come through in a balanced way. The tube saturation is sweeter and more drippy then any other tubes I have tried. The entire tone changes to a slightly mellower, richer, and clearer sounding platform from other tubes I have tried.

I do also like Telefunkens, RFT's and BugleBoys, but the NOS Mullards for me, remain the best sounding.

How about current production tubes, apart from the stock ones?

I just tried the Einstein with an old RCA 12AX7A in V1 and it was awesome! More definition and clarity, better punch and damn does this thing have power!
