Hi, I kindly ask some Einstein-Users for response since I don’t know anybody playing this amp and cannot/couldn’t play it around where I live.

All samples I heard, where the Einstein was used, are played with lots of gain, very modern sounding, often towards metal-style.

Could the Einstein cover the more classic sounds too, say from Blues via Classic Rock to Hardrock, even maybe a bit Hendrix style? That would go to the more „marshally“ side of things. Or is there always a strong noticable touch of a „broad walled“ modern metal-sound?
I’m asking, cause some users described the sound of the Einstein as too modern – whatever this means.

What are your impressions using the Einstein in a more „classical“ way?
Is it flexible?
Are there any samples of Classic Rock, played with the Einstein?

I’d highly appreciate some answers, please.

Just some classical pentatonic wanking over a Thin Lizzy tune. Einstein covers that soooooooo good.

The only thing really "modern" in Einstein are the construction and some features. It does classical rock stuff par excellence. IMO.

Thanks to both of you, very nice clips. I will check out an Einstein, as soon as possible.
Another Question, I have:
Did you try different tubes to get a sound different than the default one in the Einstein?
I think, duesentrieb made a post, where he wrote about different tubes he used, but I can't remember, where to find the post.
Could you give me a help?

Cheers!

I recently tried a pair of Boogie 6L6 (based on recommendation) and didn't like it, I missed the EL34 girth.

I did like a pair of SED "Winged C" EL34, but am currently back on the stock Rubys. I might put the SEDs in again and mix them with the 6L6 for next band rehearsal to give it a try, but the Einstein is just too new to play with these things and give reliable statements.

Q. How flexible is the Einstein?

A. More flexible than a contortionists latex catsuit! :)

It's definitely a very versatile amp. I tend to play lower gain stuff more than heavy stuff these days and the Einstein delivers. From Bob Marley type reggae to Dire Straits to AC/DC to Black Sabbath and beyond.

I like how you can use the Ch1 modes to vary how compressed the tone is. For example mode 2 with gain on 5 is less compressed than mode 3 with gain on 3 although the distortion levels are otherwise similar. Nice features for getting the kind of FEEL you want.

I like the amp better with Svetlana/SED 6L6 tubes though. Didn't like the stock preamp tubes either.

I plan to record some clips in pop/rock, blues and hard rock vein when I find the time.

 Uff!

To Hunter

- could you post your experience then using different tubes than stock tubes in your Einstein, please?

To Laxu

thanks a lot for your post. That sounds really good!
I will fix a date in two weeks to check out the Einstein. I have vacations then.
I'm looking forward to your samples - can't wait to hear them. Let me know, when they are done!

Cheers!

+1 For Channel 1, mode 2. Max the channel vol and set the gain to five and crank it. The gain channels of Diezels are somewhat of NuMetal IMO but that is why they have so many channel options. Also you should use a diezel cab with V30s and not the Diezel speakers. They are very tight and IMO not for Classic Rock. Have fun looking.....

I've got some clips. Not well played and recorded to share with all the forumites :( Send me a PM if you want to hurt your ears.

Thanks To przemekfor the files!
They are good examples for classic sound!

Sorry that I don't own any recording gear to post clips, but I use my Einstein combo 50 for all types of gigging with a Les Paul and CS356. We play 50's right on through to newer music and the Einstein covers everything.
I can actually set up ch 1, mode 2 and leave it on as is just using my volume controls on the guitar and it sounds great.
It has excellent controlled feedback at any volume and does cleans exceptioneally well.

I liked that sound. What settings did you use?

It's a bit off-topic, but...on you ampclips page, the song "Redundantia", what hughes and kettner are you using?
It sound amazing!

Thats a HK Tubeman Preamp (the 19" version), a bit boosted with a Boss SD1 if I remember correctly.
Thanks for listening.

Hei thought you sold your Einstein? Did you buy a new one?

Well I played until last saturday an Eini 50W without the mod to switch modes in ch 1 (by the way thanks again Olaf!!!): so one clean, one dist channel with the two masters.
Very versatile, i play in a top-40 cover band (everything except metal), just two channels, some effects from multivalve, and playing a lot with volume pedal and volume on my music man luke.
never felt lack of sound options..and with the mod now things are going even better!
