I was very surprise to see that my original Einstein as a TAD 7025 tube on V1.
It was suposed to be a Ruby.
Someone had the same experience ?

I do not agree with this topic.
I put the V2 Ruby on V1 instead of the TAD and it sounds realy different.
With the TAD the sound had more bass and is smoother.
So I don't think TAD and Ruby are the same tubes.
If someone can explain it a little more...

The Rubys and the TAD´s are both from Shuguang.
The 7025 had a silver plate and sounds different
The 12AX7 has a grey plate and is used in V2-V6.
We use a ECC83 JJ since 2 years in V1. Reason is that
the 12AX7 is microphonic.

Btw: Every tube sound different and I put 30% to 50%
in the trash can, because they don´t satisfy my ears.

Hope this helps,

Peter :)

Thanks for the response.
...but my Einstein is less than on year old and it's a TAD on V1.

From my personal experience, I can tell you that tubes, being used in the quantity that they are, get used up by the manufacturer. As they replace the supplies they need, if a company making those tubes is currently turning out less then satisfactory product, the amp manufacture may find a different manufacturer for the tubes needed, rather then put less then satisfactory tubes in his amps. Therefore your amp may have a better tube in it at the time it was made, which may come from a different company, if the old tube company was not making great tubes at the time your amp was made.

If your amp is running well and sounds good, the least of your concerns should be what the company decides is the best tube at the time your amp is completed to use to make your amp sound it's best when it leaves the company.

This is not meant to be a rant on you, but only to describe, what I feel is a valid reason why you may have a different tube in your amp then other amps coming from the company at the apporimate time your amp did.

I've played Diezel amps since 2002, and whatever Peter decides to put into my amp as a tube from a given company is fine with me, because the amp always sounds great. Don't worry about the tube, just enjoy the amp.

Sorry C-4 but I don't agree.
The amp is wonderfull, but the TAD on V1, has too much bass, and is not the best for my ears.
I'm not the only one to change the Einstein tubes to get a better tone.

I get some new samples from the current Chinese
production and will check them out for microphonic
noises.
Maybe we can use them for the input stage next time.

Why did you buy the Eini if the tone wasn't good in your view?

I don't think most Einstein owners have had the chance to play them before buying. I know I didn't and I agree with C-4. I've changed the V1 and V2 tubes, didn't like them. Too much gain, too fuzzy sounding to me. I also put 6L6 tubes in mine.

Where did I tell that the Einstein didn't have a good tone ?
I just tell that I was surprise by the tube on V1.
Is it forbidden to ask this question, and trying to understand the choice of the préamp tubes ?

Sorry my English is a little bad, I'm french.
