EMG Emblem Color on EMG 60

What color is the EMG 60 emblem? I know the sticker on the back tells exactly what the p/u is, but does the color also?

Back in the 90's I had an EMG 81 and 85. The 85 was gold and the 81 was silver or white I believe.
 
Colors refer to the magnet itself, not necessarily the model.

Silver = Ceramic
Gold = Alnico
Copper = Dual mode

So an EMG 60 will have a silver logo, and an EMG 60A will have a gold logo. EMG81 is ceramic, so it's silver. EMG85 is alnico, so it's gold.

I came across a pic like the one above. That's what led me to start this thread.

Here's my situation. The guitar is a Jackson KVTMG. Jackson's website as well as MF, GC, says 81 Bridge, 85 Neck. Pictures to me think the neck is an 85 due to what seems like a gold EMG emblem. Sweetwater on the other hand says 81 Bridge, 60 Neck. I called my SW rep who confirmed with Jackson it is a 60 in the neck. I call BS because the SW pics show what looks like a gold EMG emblem.

Has anyone seen one in person and played this guitar? Thoughts?

I could buy one from SW and take the risk. If it is an 85 neck contrary to their listing, what do you think SW would do?
 
Well, if you like the rest of the guitar, I don't think it's such a big deal. EMG's are easy to swap and not hard to come across used. I'm sure the 85 is even easier to find used than the 60 if what you want is an 85.
 
Thanks for that pic, Rex! I don't remember my personal EMG 60 I used to own looking quite that "blue/gray" color. Always looked silver to me. I remember mine looking more like this which looks like an 81 to me:

So maybe some are mixed? Faded? Or I have bad eyesight since I'm old and frail now :geek:

All of the 60's I've had were non-metallic gray like the pic I posted. They've always been like that, as far as I know. Maybe you got an odd one?

Sweetwater is like the Amazon of music, they have a very generous return policy. If it isn't what they say, they will pay for shipping back on their dime IME. It's one of the benefits of using them.
