EMG Pickups / "Metal" Guys Here...Have You Tried These?

I was just watching Ola's video (below) where he attempts to recreate Alexi Laiho's rhythm tones with a Marshall JVM. He went into some detail about the boost / EQ feature of Alexi's signature EMG bridge pickup. (Specs here: https://www.emgpickups.com/guitar/signature-sets/alx-set-black.html). Have any of you guys tried this pickup?

I have to say I'm bit intrigued. He seems to be getting a very aggressive, tight and punchy tone out of that JVM with very low gain settings. I have always kept a few guitars around with an 81 in the bridge for metal purposes, but these (at least in this video) seem to have most of the edge and attack of a full active with a little more organic and less filtered sounding response. Ola has the amp dialed in a little too bright in my opinion, but you can really hear that edgy attack in the demos. I would love to hear some thoughts and opinions from my friends here.

Have not tried that new one, but I've always much preferred the 85 in the bridge over the 81.

Used to have that old Afterburner thing. I remember it being noisy as shit, and I didn't like that it was a knob. Would have just preferred a fixed setting I could easily enable/disable. So something like the PA2 with the EQ would have been better for me.

Have tired HZ1, HZ2, HZ3, and HZ4. They're all okay, but I prefer the active stuff, personally.

I havent tried the one in the link but i have two esp alexi guitars with the MM-04 boost and emg hz and they sound great imo. Different than a emg 81.

Back in the 80's I had the PA-2 boost but on a toggle switch with a little trim pot on it that you set how much destruction you wanted. Of course I had it maxed.. It was killer for the time..

Interesting...different from the 81 in what ways?
Sounds and feels more passive, and with the interal mm-04 boost it has 4 sliders for the eq and you can also adjust how much boost you want. Doesnt feel like the 81,85,60 or hetset.
