I need a set of 2 of these. Would you guys buy the Eminence ones or Celestion.

I hear they both sound similar. The Eminence ones are made in USA and Celestion are made in China. Based on that alone im likely to buy Eminence. I don't buy Chinese goods anymore. Regardless of that, how do they compare in tone? I hear the Eminence sound like the Celestions but without the piercing treble. Truth?

I use Weber speakers in most of my cabs. I've never looked back.

Made in USA and they sound great with OUTSTANDING quality. I'd check them out. Email Ted that same question and he'll get back with you.

Not a bad idea but I have absolutely no idea if Weber makes stuff that sounds liek what I need. They certainly arn't that popular.

If you're looking for the GT-75 sound, get the GT-75's. I don't understand where the 75/Man O War comparison came from as they do not sound anything alike IMO. The Man O War has a load of mids and has that British grit (unlike the 75)

The Eminence Black Powder is a lot closer to the GT-75 sound from my experience.

I love GT-75's and there really isn't a cheaper alternative if you are looking for that sound.

You are making my decision much harder. :/ Thanks for the advice though.

Let me expand on the G12H75T idea. Basically they are mid scooped somewhat. In general Marshalls are all mids or extremely mid heavy, so when you combine the 2 you get a more even sounding tone. Getting speakers with extended mids is a bad idea if you want an even tone, which I do.

Manowars have a high mid to treblely focus to them.

i've got cabs with Governor/ Swamp Thang mix, and cabs with Governor/ Manowar mix. 3 out of 4 amps i've tried have liked the Governor/ Swamp mix the best.

oddly enough, the amp that liked the Gov/ MOW mix better, was the amp that had a High mid voicing allready?

for Eminence with backed off mids there's Swamp Thangs and Tonkers, and i'm sure a several others that i'm not aware of?

I would seriously consider the cheap Warehouse Classic Lead clones. Since I discovered these, I have sold all my other speakers (GT75's, Hellatone 30's, Greenbacks). They have an even mid response (no annoying peaks) and are rolled off on the high end. Really dark/thick sounding speakers.

Regarding Eminence, I have tried a load of them and didn't care for any of them except the old GB12's. Every single Red Coat/Patriot model had a really crappy sounding thing going on in the treble/presence frequencies. This includes the Swamp Thangs...............which most people are going to tell you are dark/smooth speakers.

Just my opinion :D

Crappy as in harsh and fuzzy or ???
I thought the consensous was that Emmies are generally darker than Celesions ?

I hate giving celestion my money, BUT.............

The G12T75 is one of my favorite speakers. It's the 80's metal standard and it handles tons of power.

A+ ;)
