So I just got an Empress ParaEq w/ Boost pedal and it’s awesome! I wanted to ask, since I have a 1986 Randall RG100ES, how would I dial in this pedal to use in a similar way that Dimebag Darrell did with his Furman PQ? I’m not planning to use this pedal just for that purpose, but am curious since I have it

It works great for Dime, you pretty much set it up like he did his PQ3. You will still need the 6 band EQ with the mid boost setting low end cut and the Noise Gate to nail to tone. I ran mine side by side with my PQ3 and sounded equally as good IMO, I was quite happy with it, I just happened to find a local PQ3 for sale. Anyway here were my Dime setttings on my empress, you can twek from there.

Cool, I give those settings a try. How’d he set the 6 band eq? I don’t have a mxr 6 band, but have a Mesa/Booige 5 band eq. Can that get similar results to the mxr 6 band?

try amplitube dimebag version, there some presets that have the furman settings

The Mesa 5 band EQ far surpasses the MXR junk. I have had two 10 bands die on me. I avoid MXR these days.

posting to remember this later. Empress para on my list of toys for when the weather goes cold again.

Here's his 6 band settings.

Signal chain guitar>6 Band>Empress Para EQ>Noise gate>Randall RG100ES. Any good high output ceramic pickup will get you a decent Dime tone but the Bill Lawrence USA L500XL is really needed to be exact.

have you tried the pe15 in the effect loop? any good? im looking for one to use with mark amps instead of the mesa eq

They're good units, pretty well built. I use this as a PQ4 substitute and it does the job and they're reasonably priced. I have not tried it in the loop but I have seen other people using them in effects loops so they must work ok for that application as well.
