What gear did you use?
Mesa boogie mark III blue stripe - torpedo CAB - LO-1 line out pedal - isolation cabinet (in order to use both the preamp and the power amp section of the amp) - UR 22 interface. The guitar is a Les Paul Samick Artist Series Original
3 guitar tracks recorded in audacity.
Amp Settings - vol 10, treble 10, bass 0, mids 2 pulled (adds more gain), master 1.5 pulled, lead drive 3 pulled, lead master 3 pulled, presence 5
Classic Metallica V eq engaged
The IR - guitar impulse I used was one that I found online - it's called metallica - black album IR impulse.
So basically nothing really sophisticated. I have always been and will always be a bedroom player, so I that means that I can't use real 4x12 cabs and that's the reason why I bought the torpedo CAB. It works wonder when you know how to shape the tone and use the appropriate virtual cabinets. Before I got the CAB I used to record using my hand made custom order isolation cabinet based on the "box of doom" iso. The Lo-1 line out allows me to use both the CAB and the isolation cab which is loaded with a WGS veteran 30. When I dont use the power section of the amp I just connect the send effects of the amp to the torpedo CAB and I basically run the preamp section only. Yesterday I recorded the crunch channel using both a real dynamic mic inside my iso cab and a virtual cabinet. This is what it sounded like
