This actually happened yesterday, but I've been too busy to post. I'm in Osaka for new year's, and decided to check out the ESP custom shop here. I get in and of course there's all these sweet custom horizon's, ECT.. On a back wall they have kind of a Metallica section, and within it is THE holy grail of guitars for me since I was 8 years old. A white MX explorer! I've always wanted to see one, so I was really excited. Got to play it and had a huge grin on my face.
Worker there asks me if I'm interested, and I tell him at $5k, it's a bit out of my price range right now. He says well I'm very lucky then, because if I'm interested, he just got a used one in that very morning that he can give me for much cheaper. so he brings it out and it's nicely yellowed, a couple minor dings, and the bridge is really badly tarnished, but otherwise in really good shape. I ask him how much and he says $1800 with no taxes because I'm a foreigner. My jaw hit the floor. I was expecting about another 1k over that. So of course I bought it! All of a sudden I own my holy grail guitar, when I would have been happy to just see and play one.
I'm a bit stressed about getting it home, but I'm sure it will be fine *knocks on wood*
Sorry for the long rambling post but I'm sooooo happy!
