Trying to figure out the wiring in Eric Johnson's Virginia Strat. Lots of diagrams out there but not quite right (at best).

Knowns
Dimarzio HS-2 in bridge but bottom coil not used
Bottom tone control assigned to bridge pickup
Middle switch position has no tone control
Neck and Middle pickups are same polarity
Neck/middle polarity are opposite bridge
Both #2 and #4 switch positions are hum-cancelling
Volume control is ~400k

My issue is getting hum-cancelling in position 2. I think the wires for either the neck or middle pickup need to be swapped such that the middle is in-phase with the bridge but the neck and middle are out-of-phase with each other. That way the bridge/middle switch position sounds normal and hum-cancelled but you get that thin/weak tone in position 2 and it is also hum-cancelled.

Is the tone cap shared? I was going to start with a shared 0.1uF (stock 50's value).
Volume will be 500k with 2M2 across outer lugs.
My intention is to NOT use the Dimarzio but rather a regular (flatpole) single coil but I think it needs to be RWRP (either that or BOTH neck/middle need to be RWRP). I'm really trying to get away from staggered poles, it's 2020 fer cryin out loud! I'm not perpetuating that mistake.

Something like this? Note the neck pickup wires are reversed.

Eric talks about the electronics a bit starting at 8:50 and 20:00 here:
