Hi.

I recently bought an Eventide Eclipse that I intend to use with my VH-4.

Has anyone else got this setup and how do you connect them?
Do you use the balanced ins/outs on the eclipse? Do you just use one output from the eclipse to the VH-4 return or do you mix the outputs from the eclipse before returning to the VH-4 (there is no summed mono out from the eclipse)?

Hey, I moved to the eclipse after getting rid of my TC G-system. Well done friend!!! You've just got yourself a serious unit there...  :D

My set up is slightly different as I use the VH4S so I come stereo out of the eclipse but if your using a regular VH4 then you'll need to edit the patches in the eclipse to be mono and then come out of output 1 (or a, I cant remember what it says!!)

What cable method are you using for it? I really recommend using the balanced XLR at the eclipse to unbalanced 1/4" at the Diezel end (check www.eventide.com/techpages on the right way to 'unbalance' the XLR) . It means you can use the relay bypass on the eclipse (which only works with the XLR ins and outs) so that you totally cut out the AD-DA when your not using it. Plus its, according to the manual, apparently 11db's louder!!

Only downer on this unit as Im sure you'll notice(d) is the HUGE 1 second loading time whilst changing some patches. I love how the manual suggests the way around this is to just buy another unit and use them one at a time!!!! Hahahahahaha like we all have an extra 2 grand lying around for that!!!!!

Let me know how you find it geezer!!

Dan

Thanks!

I haven't tried the eclipse with the VH4 yet. I have just used it in my DAW setup and it sounds really nice! The preset lag is huge on some presets though, but I knew that before I bought it...

Do you have yours in the serial or the parallel loop?

How do you edit the patches to be mono? I read somewhere that eventide recommends having an external mixer and sum out1 and out2 because there is no real mono setup for the eclipse.

A couple of frieds here tells me I'm a moron for buying the eclipse and that I should have bought the G-system instead. I feel the G-system is like a G-major with a metal foot pedal.... What do you think about the eclipse vs G-system?

I've owned for a year a g-system: modded it for the noise issue, 4 cable method.
G-system can be a great all in one solution..but:
-the high price, lack of deep editing, noise problems = eclipse is the clear winner.

They are two different machine; eclipse is a dual engine processor, a bit obsolete interface, over the top (for my current standards and uses) fx;
G-system yep..better than GM1 but if i would go TC i'll still buy a G-force.

yes, the g-force is a keeper.

i tested a lot and like it best.
i'd be interested in an eclipse review.

nice rig! are you using the tc in the switchable loop? i used that way but a high pop noise appeared evry time i engaged the loop...
tell your experiences...

no noise in switching!!!
right i use it in the switchable loop.
an alternative is a looper from lehle, but that prob shouldn't appear with the herbert.
