I'm thinking of getting a H9 to replace my TC Nova Mod.

I know some of you guys on here are using the H9.

Is it all that? Any issues thus far with the quality of the sound or of the physical unit?

So far so good. I like that you have real control over the input gain (gain slider and level meter) so you can use all of the A/D converters' capacity. I do have to crank the channel volume on my Friedman pretty high to get it to the right level, which is due to the design of the BE100s effect loop, but I can manage. It gives me the best sound with lowest noise and highest A/D resolution. On my complex board I had to do a bit of research and trial and error to get rid of mains noise on the power supply (I am not using the Eventide wall wart).

How are you powering the H9?

Does it run on 9vdc or 12vdc? And how much power does it need?

I've skimmed through the manual but I asked again cos' on the pedal, it states 9-12vdc.

So I was wondering if he runs it on 9vdc or 12vdc.

And although the manual states it as needing 500ma, I've read of guys powering it off of a 400ma outlet.

Sometimes manuals will state what adapter is needed (ie Boss 200ma) and not actual current draw
If it says 9v, stick to 9v
Lower current might affect headroom and make it clip with stronger line signals

It will run off like 350mA on 9V DC. Problem is I have a huge board and once you have pedals in front and in loop of the amp as well as tube pedals and digital pedals, you need to do some thinking to get good clean power to all of them and keep the noise down. Not specific to the H9.

I'm powering my board with 2, Cioks DC-10's. All my pedals are on their own individual outlets. I was thinking of using the 9v, 400ma outlet just for the H9.

It's center positive, right?

Yup, center positive, Eventide recommands 9V 500mA or 12V 380 mA, but it can run on less according to the interwebs. Currently I use the H9's power sector so...

So far I really dig the H9, sound wise no issue. However a segment of the 2nd number of the display died after only a few days. I'm too lazy to send it to RMA for that.

Straight from Eventide.

"For a regulated 12VDC, the current requirement is 380mA at power up and 300mA in normal operation. Do not use unregulated 12V.

For a regulated 9VDC, the current requirement is 500mA at power up and 400mA in normal operation."

I guess I'm good to go if I use the 12vdc/400ma output on either of my Cioks DC-10's.

Killer unit, but the best thing about it is the bluetooth. Total control without bending over.... Love it!

I know I am a Bit late on this post. But yes H9 is awesome. The only downside, with i am sure most of you have found out, is that there is so much to the h9 that you have to choose only 1 algorithm at a time. So what I did was pick up BIGSKY to open up other modulation effects on the h9 as well as harmonizing.. And I picked up an h9 core along with my max to run both as a max.
that with the infinity looper... equals endless amounts of fun tones and mods to play with. I Picked up the other stymons as well the mobius and timeline.... Things can get out of hand real quick.... but also so much sound scape to play with.

As far as power supplies go I have 1 word for everyone.... YANKEE POWER SUPPLIES!!!!!!

I had a really hard time finding power that could run all the pedals without having to run some into the wall.....

these guys have it and more seriously the best power supplies on the market. Talk to ryan over at guitar effects pedals . com and he can answer your questions. also he was the only place I was able to find them other then ebay... So good luck and your welcome you will never have another power issue again.... haha
