WTF? It's a first for me. Guy had Bogner Snorklers in-stock. Took off about $400, no tax. Perfect........until I asked about payment.
He went on a big sermon on why PP and Credid Cards sucked and cost him money. Like, I'm an asshole for using them. :ROFLMAO:
In his view Venmo or Zelle is better.
OK, no sale then asshole. I can take my $$$$$ elsewhere.

He's cheating on his taxes selling for cash.

I would immediately tell this son of a bitch I am coming for him. That he has just crossed a line that he can never come back from. And that in the end, when I capture his stupid ass, the PRICE is PAIN.

I would do the same exact thing except I'd offer to drop the matter completely in exchange for a free James Tyler Studio Elite.

Ask him how much the CC company charges him (2.75% probably), offer to add that back to his discounted price, see what he says.

Took off $400 with no tax is impressive.

PayPal and CC companies tack on their own fees to businesses.

I believe the credit card fee when I had my shop was 2%, so I can understand after knocking off $400 maybe preferring cash

To me, a dealer who can’t, or won’t take a CC is just a dude holding gear for sale in his house. If you take the deal you better hope there’s no problems with the shipping or the amp in general. I wouldn’t trust there to be any help from this guy after the deal.

i mean, it sounds like the dude already gave him a deal knocking off $400, if the customer then asks about payment and the dude says he prefers cash instead of giving the 2% or $80 on a $4k amp to the credit card companies, is that really some horrible offense to not shop there anymore?? its situations like this that i dont care to have a business anymore, you think you are helping someone out and it turns into a lost customer who is now talking shit about you to everyone.

Too many shady businesses. I want that CC protection. Now it would be a different story if, as he knocked of extra he said at the same time I can only do this for cash or I need to increase it X% to cover CC fees. I could respect that. But if even bumping it back up, for eg. 4%, is a no go, something else is going on with his book keeping.

If someone is discounting for cash and they're reputable, I'll take it. Their tax situation is none of my biz. If they're not discounting for cash, but you're paying cash, you're still paying their CC merchant fees, as they're built into the price everyone pays. I'd rather get the discount. I did that for Mrs. Lee's engagement ring. And in the gun business it's very common to quote cash/debit card prices, then tack on 3% or so for CC payment methods.

When I moved from VA to AZ, the moving company told me they took CCs. Pack and ship was all good. When they called to arrange drop off in AZ (about 18 hours in advance), they said to have $2700 in cash ready before they started unloading the truck. I didn't have a local bank yet and couldn't get that much cash out of an ATM in one day. I had to use a CC and they made me sign and fax over a form that I would not dispute the CC charges.

i dont know what happened, but it sounds to me like the shop basically said "im helping you out, maybe you could help me out by not using a CC" when asked what the preferred method of payment is, which seems odd to me to be offended by, i would have said let me run to the bank quick and get cash to help you out for helping me, not think the dude is calling me an asshole and im calling off the sale, pissed on the internet and questioning his books :dunno:
