The mighty EVH 5150 III 50W EL34! It's a cool amp that I've had for a bunch of years now. The clean channel is cool, the red channel is amazing for high-gain but the blue channel is somewhat controversial as it has a pretty different voicing than the red channel, which in my opinion is a good thing! I wonder what you guys think of the blue channel?

After having owned it for all these years I finally took the time to make a review video using a bunch of different guitars etc.:

@VESmedic Yep, I have a 100w EL34, a 100w Stealth, and a 50w 6L6 v2. The 100w EL34 is a monster, and my favorite of all the EVH amps.

Hey @Guitarjon, have you tried the C137 mod? All it takes is clipping one leg of a single component to bring the Blue channel back to the same tightness as the 6L6's Blue channel. Some people even put it on a switch so they can go back and fourth if they want.

I haven't tried it myself but I like what the blue channel adds tbh. A switch would be cool though.

I recently performed the C137 mod, which even for a person with no real technical experience other than swapping preamp tubes was super easy. It took much longer to get the amp in and out of the chassis than to perform the mod. After the mod was done, I absolutely hear and feel a difference, but I don't think it has quite the gain of the 6L6 amp, which to me is fine but it does remove quite a bit of the flub.
