Is there such a thing as a switcher for an expression pedal? I have three things that will take an expression pedal, and one pedal. Obviously, I don't want three pedals, and I would rather not use a Y cable.
Is there something like an amp switcher that will handle control voltage signals?
There are but given that different devices use different voltages is it very difficult to match. If you are, for example, controlling all MoogerFoogers you can use Moog's CV router. However, most expression pedal inputs supply their own voltage (and it's almost always different from others) and just use the pedal to attenuate the voltage that the device provides. If you only need to control ONE device at a time, you could probably use any passive 3-way switch that is rated for the highest voltage you'll be sending through it. Note that with a stereo volume/expression pedal you could control two devices at the same time.
The way I think most people deal with this though is by plugging the expression pedal into a MIDIFootcontroller which converts the expression pedal movements to MIDI CC values and then routs them to multiple devices. For example, I have one pedal controlling CVs in my SwitchBlade but also controlling parameters in my Eventide Eclipse, and they can be set up and routed on a patch-by-patch basis.
What are the 3 devices you want to control? Maybe one of them could be the 'master' and then send MIDI messages to the others (assuming they are MIDI enabled)?
It's the Murf and the two Eventides listed in my signature.
The Eventides will respond to MIDI commands but not the Murf. I actually find that how the Murf responds to it isn't all that fantastic, although it might be useful at times.
The best one is the Modfactor- That has a really nice wah setting. If that is the only one I use it with, problem solved.
However, the Timefactor also has some neat effects with it. Both Eventides have MIDI in/out/through capability. I don't know if I can connect the pedal to one of them and then send the signal to the other via MIDI. Even if I could do that, would that mean that it would be effecting both pedals (which I may not want) or is there a kind of "pass through" mode?
