If you've played both how would you compare the feel? To me the EG5 has exactly the feel I'm looking for. I don't know how to accurately describe it.....it's tight with the perfect amount of "squishiness". The Bogner Red sounds great but doesn't have the feel I'm looking for. I don't know if it's the compression or being less compressed than the EG5 or just the general voicing. I'm basically looking for an "amp in a box" pedal to go on my "songwriting-direct to computer pedalboard" that sounds great and feels like the EG5. Any ideas?

Here's the chain: Wah-Bogner Red-Strymon Timeline-Two Notes C.A.B

Also My Mod 50 with the EG5/Palmer/C.A.B sounds great.

I have never played the EG5, but read that it's voiced after a Soldano so maybe a SLOstortion from Wampler could be a possibillity...

The EG5 is not really at all like a soldano IMHO. The SLO has a much more compressed, low mid grunt thing going on, iirc, which the EG5 is all upper mid bite. One of the reasons I love it. Maybe look for something more Marshally voiced with a really tight bottom end. Not sure what exactly to suggest though. Sry.

Thanks for the replies. Maybe I should wait for the Egnater pedals to be released.

The Xotic SLDrive is close to what you want. I use it into a Torpedo CAB. If I put a boost in front of the SLDrive it pushes it into that more modern with-a-bite Marshall territory.
The AMT SS-11 is a good all in one amp in a box for the CAB too, more versatile, basically three channels, more modern voiced than the Xotic.

The Xotic is a little more open and responsive to the guitars volume knob than the AMT, very dynamic and real, it is remarkable. With something to kick in the pants it can do it all except the very clean sounds.
