Hi all

Did some recording over the weekeend - plugged my 100w Ecstasy head into the Torpedo Live with master volume on about 7. Today is currently 33c in Sydney.

The fan has just started going mental - really loud like I've never heard it before. Its clearly concerned about heat. Just interested to know if anyone has experience running a 100w head into the unit in hot environments. Is this normal?

Cheers

A lot of units are used in very hot environments and we do stress tests in the factory too.

Is the noise due to the air flowing, or something else in you opinion? Is there a way you can do a sound sample to help us understand what is happening?

Thank you.

I got Torpedo Live a few days ago and when first turned on the fan was extremely loud. Very much like a buzzing sound.

It did quiet down after being on for a while but sometimes a jostle or bump would make the fan and noise start up again.

Now, the temp has been in the 60s F and there's no sound at all. Not sure if the fan is off or on but silent.

Is the fan generally a noisy thing when on?

Dan

Hi Dan,

not sure what can cause that really, but sometimes releasing a little the screws (look at how the fan is fixed on the metal housing) can help fixing the issue.

If you don't want to do it, return the unit to the store where you bought it and we will help them directly.

Could you please tell me what is the serial number of your unit? So I can check with our production team if there are other cases of noisy fans.

Thanks Guillaume,

It must have just been the fan rubbing against the chassis as loosening one screw made it completely quiet.

Hi Dan, that's good to know. I stay around in case anything else is wrong. ;)
