Any of you try Fane 70 speakers for rock to metal?

My go to speakers are my Redbacks and I also use UK V30s and K100s, and periodically a CL80.

I'm about to order Eminence/Omega DV-77 and VM12-65 speakers but then came across Fane 70 speakers. I know Avatar sells them

Anyone tried these and have an opinion?

Thanks!

Yep they sound great for high gain, bit smoother than most Celestions but not dark. Very versatile speaker really, and the speaker of choice for Fryette.

I yanked the F70s in the new FB412 I got and put F90s in there. Only played on the F70s for a few weeks but don't remember being blown away. The Fanes definitely don't seem to have the grit, bite, and edginess Celestions do....a bit smoother. Not that I remember the F70 being bad or anything, but I was anxious to try F90s. I do plan on sticking the F70s back in there and giving them a proper go.

Like others said Fanes are smoother, flatter mids, not scooped though, more neutral voicing, not dark or bright really. At least that’s how they are if you’re used to celestions. What they excel at is sounding big, powerful and moving air, but the voicing itself isn’t always that exciting to the ears. The old Crescendo’s are similar, but just a lot better as is almost always the case of vintage equivalents to things

I think they sound great in the Fryette FB cabs. Also had a quad in Wizard cab, but swapped them out for M65s.

think similar to v30 without the mid spike, more smoothed out… as noted above. I think they sound brighter in the FL Fryette cabs compared to the rear loaded Wizard cabs.

Thanks guys,
Not sure what to do now.

Trying to see if a Fane would fit in with my 212 cabs.
Stone Age 212 - Redback/K100
Bogner 212 - Redback/V30 (China)

Would a Fame work in one of these 212 cabs as a blend?
Other options are the CL80, DV-77 or VM12-65.

My Splawn 412 - Redbacks/V30s (UK/Mesa)

My Bogner 412 I am shopping speakers too. Was probably going to do DV-77/VM12-65 for variety.

However, I'm. Open to using the Fane speakers in my Bogner 412 blended with another speaker.

Not sure if I should give the Fane a shot, now.

In my experience Fanes can be awkward the way they blend with other non-Fane speakers. They did pretty good with V30’s imo. I typically liked them best, mainly my Crescendos, on the bottom row in my 412 to add the beef and punch they give and then on top something else like my Alnico Blues. That can sound great. Not good crossed (x pattern) though imo

Thanks for some feedback on Fanes.

My favorite speaker is still the Redbacks, and love mixing in Mesa V30s, CL80s, K100s, etc.

The clips I hear of the F70 reminds me of the Redback.

Maybe this time, I'll try the Eminence DV-77 and VM12-65.
