Hi,

I've heard a preamp you made that had good hard rock tone, I'm just wondering if you make high gain preamps?

Cheers

Thanks.
For me they are pretty high gain - but not hyper gain (yet).

Which of them did you hear - or who told you this, cause I've made a handful, all of them a bit different, you know . . .

Actually, I understate it when I say "good". Because it actually sounded awesome!

Yeah man, I just checked out the 2 Panther clips on your website and that lead tone is insanely killer. The lead tone sounds right in the ballpark for what I want. As a rough Idea I would like the rhythm tone to be able to cover good thrash chugga chugga in the vein of Countdown To Extinction & Youthanasia through to modern metal Chugga Chugga. I'm looking for tight, dynamic, thick and defined rhythm and lead.

Although, I'm actually really into having a totally unique preamp that won't sound quite the same as anything else. So I'm not looking to cop specific, already existing, tones 100%. I'd want a confidentiality agreement on the circuit and components of course. ;)

It was the one you had in the UK spam thread at Harmony Central about 6 months ago. I think you may have said it was Alex Flouros'?

Thanks,

yeah I had one of Alex`for sale after I rebuilt it. A HCAF forumite (big hair) now uses it for his studio. Alex who had two, still has one Panther and two "real" Duesentrieb amps now.
Scott (digital jams) is just building a follow up preamp (black tiger) on his own with "my" parts and instructions. I`ll keep you updated about the result.

Cool, cheers.

So, do you think you are likely to want to build me a preamp sometime then? I live in England.

I guess I could buy "parts" and "instructions" from you, I am capable of putting an amp together. But I'd probably prefer to get an amp that works properly and has been tweaked to perfection straight out of the box. :)

Do you live somewhere close to Liverpool - I'm asking because you could check out Big Hairs Panther and also Mark Kaney's Panther - to make sure that you like what you would get, you know ;)

No, man I'm down south, a couple of hundred miles away.

I'm fairly sure the lead will be cool for me, I just haven't heard the rhythm doing chugga metal. Is it similar to any other amps for a rough comparison? For example, I like the metal rhythm you can get with a Diezel Herbert.

I'd primarily be using it with a Marshall power amp, El34's, and mahogany axes with Duncan SH-4 JB pickups.

In the latest "revision" the crunch channel has as much gain as the lead, but less compression. So I'd say: yes.
When I will build another one, I'll let you know.

Thanks man, that all sounds really good.

Now, I'm not trying to hassle you, at all, but do you think that is likely to be in the next few months? If it's gonna be like 6 months or more then I may pick up some more gear in the meantime, otherwise I'll just wait. :D

Cheers
