Im not sure how many Fuzz users there are here( I dont expect there to be many) but I was wondering what you used and liked. Ive tried the Fulltone offerings but have been intriguied by the FoxRox CC Hybrid and Hartman SFZ dual fuzz( One side Ge FF, the other Si FF) . I havent decided if I like Germanium or Silicon versions either though I think that Im leaning towards Germanium..

Please bear in mind that Im asking specifically about Fuzz Face style fuzzes.

Kage, I have a Skreddy Screwdriver clone that I LOVE and also I got a duncan tweak fuzz and did a couple resistor change and I love that one as well. I have four or five other fuzz pedals but those are the two that are in that territory. The screwdriver can do anything from an overdrive type of sound up to a fuzz face as it has a hybrid treble booster\germ fuzz thing going on. But for $40 and two resistors the tweak fuzz is killer. Stock it is weak, you can find the instructions online for the mod and they took me five minutes and i'm far from a mod expert.

The FoxRox Hydrid or for more $$$ Analogman Sunface. The FoxRox has the Grit control (bias) which is cool. If I were looking I'd go with the FoxRox.

Had the Hartman Ge, thought it was bassy as hell. It was good though, just too much lows for me. The Fulltones are too Vanilla.

currently using a Hartman SI BC108 and really like it. A GE fuzzface is on my list of fuzzes to get.

I'm currently using a Proco Rat reissue and really loving it. Doesn't really give me what I call that "end of the world" kind of fuzz that is fun to mess around with but it is very usable. Some other of my favorites are the Musket fuzz and Devi Ever's Hyperion fuzz. Both are great and also very usable.

Hey Carl ,That CC Hybrid looks really cool and Dave knows more than a thing or 2 about FF's . After we spoke about that I did a bit more research and The Analogman stuff comes up ALL THE TIME...

He certainly does! I had 2 of his Crest Audio Dallas Arbiter si Fuzz Faces when he came out with them in '86. They were killer. I did all my old demos with those fuzzes

another thing Kage I don't think there is a better between the germanium and silicon it just is different. Still the circuit makes the most difference. I have a maestro fuzz tone pedal that is all germanium and it sounds cool as hell but isn't warm at all, my tweak fuzz with the silicone can get some nice, warm lead tones and so can my big muff.

the thing that messes with me Carl is that Im not entirely sure which style FF I want; Ge or Si.. What feels better? etc.....

I understand that but Im just not really sure of what I want because I like both but only want one on my board hence the reason Ive been thinking about Hybrids and Duals...

ahh, I see. I myself have been bitten with the fuzz bug big time this year and have four or five on my board. Overkill but what the heck.

How bout this Berkos deal? -

You might find a used one out there but they only made like 30. They're doing a silicon one now though.

For not crazy money, I snapped up a red dot Sunface and it's pretty good.

I would buy that silicon version before any other fuzz priced at that 200-300 range. Have an SZV , nice pedal, but it doesn't even compete in my view. Really unfortunate that the masses could not get one of that bunch that Berkos built for the germanium series. That pedal is the shit and you will realize it when you play through one. You can dial up some Hendrix, Johnson, and Gilmour like nobodies business.

Check out throbak , the make a great fuzz face called the fuzz haze that is hard to beat and his build quality and customer service are best around. He also makes a killer tone bender type and other takes on classics.

been trying a voodoo lab superfuzz (bosstone clone with extra controls)
really like it for leads and weird fuzzy effects
