So, last week at band practice i mainly tried out the Erect and loved it!

But of course i'm going to give the SL2 and EG5 a fair innings at high volumes in a band situation, so today i decided to use the EG5, channel B of course, started with gain at about 1 o'clock (just like my Erect) and B, M and T at 12, but i was getting massive amounts of feedback even with my hand resting on all strings, and exactly the same thing happened with the SL2 (channel B with same amount of gain, didn't try either with channel A). This doesn't happen with the Erect

Will this just be a bad pre amp tube or 2 in each module?

Swap change with the original (i changed to EH's) to see if it goes away?

Any help would be great as i can't do it til next tuesday an d like to have my mind put at rest :)

I would at least start with some pre amp tube swaps.

Adam, start with pre amp tubes do one and see if it is gone, if not then swap out the other also. Eg5 with its upper mids and treble really make the module take off if you have bad pre amp tubes or an unpotted pick ect. The E/Rect is tame in due to a different eq with the gain. Tubes are the downfall of all amps...they are querky!

Cheers guys, well i know it's not my pickup, so i'll do the tube swapping next week and let you know how it goes.

:)

Go one step further...take the tubes out of the E/Rect and put them in the EG5. Quick since you know the E/Rect tubes are seemingly fine.
