anyone have one?

its a solid-state amp, is REALLY heavy. i only heard one once when i was a young axe slinger and still learning the fretboard (still am of course) and practicing. its definately a metal amplifier, old school. was just wondering if anyone else has played one or seen one or even better, sound clips

I didn't have one, but in the very first incarnation of my high school band my drummer had one that I would jam on since it smoked my Peavy Audition 110   . I don't recall it being overly "metal" though. In fact I boosted it with a metal zone. If I remember I got a pretty good tone for what it was, but then again that was probably 12-13 years ago so who knows.

wow really?

interesting. its just the one i heard i didnt actually "play on", but this one was in fact a serious metal amp.

it was in charlotte NC at an amp convention, people meet up to sell gear and try out all the new stuff with endorsees as well. i just remember it was an old, carpeted head through a marshall cab that sounded just.. insane. wasnt cranked up, and this was at least 5 years ago. i didnt even own my stock 5150 back then. (traded for a 5150II)

just for what it is price wise and age no one mentions it, i hadnt heard of it sense

"What amps/rack etc did you use on the album and is there 1 piece of equipment that is vital to the "rusty cooley sound"?

I used a Fender M-80 PREAMP, a VHT power amp an Austin Gold overdrive and my Jackson 7 string plus one Marshall 4X12 cab and that's it. I think the M-80 is the secret to my tone on that cd. But at the moment I'm not even using it."

A guy that I went to college with had one. Mainly used it for a jazz tone with his ES-335. He would rock out every now and then too and it sounded really good from what I can remember.

The one I played was a combo. I listened to a clip on youtube and straight through it's pretty gainy, but I remember the one I played definately wasn't that hot. My guitar may have been a factor too. It was my first electric, a Dean Bel Aire with stock pickups. The humbucker in the bridge wasn't the hottest either.
