Had an absolute blast building this amp !!! this is my second ground up build ....
Went with Jason's suggestion of the Gargoyle trans and choke from Ceriatone .... along with a chassis pre drilled for the build ....
so ... figured WTF and got the headshell from there also ....Nik from Ceriatone let me buy one uncovered .... was unsure of what tolex I was going to use ...
ended up covering it in " Blackened Tuna " Love how it came out !!
The resistors are all Vishay ... Beyschlags pretty much everywhere except the power section ... PR series there
Nichicon Electros ..... and Sozos everywhere else .... bright caps are Vishay
This thing is a tone monster ....... it's every tone I grew up with ( I'm 53 ) ....... from 70' to 80's ...... I actually heard Vai's tone on Eat em Smile right away .... as soon as I messed with the clipping options and bright switches .... I was getting some really nice tight late 80's early 90's thrash tones ... some of the setting just had notes leaping off the fretboard ( now I finally get that reference )
anyway ... learned a ton building this one .... hats off to Jason from Headfirst .... some of the videos are god sends .... simple straight forward stuff !
Now I actually understand elevated Heaters ..... and DC heaters .... this amp having both
