I was very nervous as to the opinion of my bandmates on the new amp...they love my old rig and
anytime I tried new things, they all hated it...but...they love the egnater...which is a good thing
since i already sold the carvin and the vht...after much fiddling with the volume knob, all agreed the sound was
better and that the amp made me play better also...now if i could only figure out the effects loop, power grid, etc etc...
all in due time i guess.

Amp takes a while to figure out, no doubt about it. The manual has a pretty good explanation of how to use the loop. The power grid should be thought of as an effect, but not an ear candy one. Basically, the cleaner the channel the more power you want. So I set 1 and 50/100, 2 and three at 25/50, and 4 at 10/20, depending on how much overall out put I want. Think about how much power tube overload or clarity you want.

Good to have another Tourmaster user up here among all of the Rebel/Renegade cloneheads!

:D    :gethim:

Just got my replacement Tourmaster head, first one had two noisy gain pots...this one is fine. Took it to my rehearsal studio yesterday so I could play it loud and though my mesa cab and Gmajor II. The amp sounded great, a little noisier on the gain channels than my recto, so I had to adjust the noise gate thresholds a bit on some of my patches, but I got some great sounds. I am just waiting for my amp gizmo cable to arrive so I can sync my patch changes with channel changes on the Tourmaster.

I had a Rectoverb 50. The Tourmaster is gainier than that, so yeah, the gain channels are noisier, particularly channel 4. I don't use 4 much though so it isn't an issue for me. I got tired of the darker Mesa sound- I liked the Voxier sound of the Egnater.

Yes, I have a triple rectifier, and it is a darker amp...the Tourmaster is much brighter...I channels 1-3 in classic mode and channel 4 in modern mode, I am not using the contour control, not really my thing, but it does give you that buzz factor on channel 4 in modern mode, if you are trying to get a modern mode heavy gain recto type sound...
