Had first show with the Renegade head on Saturday. I run it through a 2 X 12 loaded with Celestion Gold Speakers. It is a stereo rig using a TC G System. The Egnater head preamp feeds the power amp of the Egnater and a Fender Deluxe via the G...... I was using full 6L6 on the clean channel @ 65 watt and full EL34 on the dirt channel @ 18 watts.
I have played live for over 25 years and it was probably the best sound I have ever had. I was very pleased at how well the Eggy sat in the mix and how well it behaved with the G system and how well the clean channel handled the looped stomp boxes ( BB Preamp, OCD, Suhr Riot, Nova Drive ).

This thing if a lot of fun... thanks Bruce et al. :)

Congrats!

I can relate even though my set up is much simpler. I run my guitar directly through my Renegade 212 combo and have experienced similar results with how well my sound set in the mix!

The Renegade is an excellent sounding amplifier with very useful features while playing live....Period! :D :D

Wow!I would love to try that ! Lucky-lucky you  !

I too had my first gig with the renegade. I only had a week with the amp and the gig still went great. I am just running a M9 thru the loop (sounds fantastic IMHO) I didn't use any of my overdrive pedals for the gig (no problem) The amp is a pleasure to play. Every feature, just seems perfect for me. I have a ton of amps, that I have modded over the years, to make right for me. I feel, Egnater read my mind with this one (fantastic ) Can't wait for the new two channel tweaker

A little video clip.... I ain't no Brian S but I think the tone is pretty solid

Sounds great to me, thanks. Love this amp! Do you have More clips?

Not happy.... will post the autopsy report after I have had a chance to figure it out.

:aww: Not funny.I hope it's only tube-related...I like the Renegade so much that i would be willing to pay the difference to get a USA-hand-made one w/spring reverb!Good luck with yours!

As it turns out the diagnosis was very easy.... when I brought the amp home and turned it on I had sound again although lots of pops and crackles....then when the amp was on for 5 minutes or so it started to smell funny... I looked inside and one of the EL34s was glowing like a supernova... I swapped out the El34s with a set of Mullards from my 50watt Plexi and things were almost back to normal... there was still a faint, far away "lightning" sound.... took out the trusty pencil and started tapping and one of the 12 ax7s was noisy.... swapped it out also and back to perfect...

I am very surprised that a fuse did not blow as that EL34 was red hot - top to bottom.

I emailed Egnater and they sent replacement tubes under warrantly the next day.... excellent support!! ..thanks Adam!

I purchased the "Premium Egnater Replacement Set" from Thetubestore.com which is Tung Sol for both EL34 and 6L6 power tubes and their preferred Series 7025 for the 12 ax7 tubes.... I will (nervously ) use the stock tubes for backup. The amp with the new tubes sounds spectacular ( but I thought it did with the Stock tubes also ) I think the sound on channel two ( I use full EL34 and 18Watt setting ) is smoother and more musical... but not wildly different. I really liked the Mullards in there also.. bit more aggressive sounding...

So back to being a fanboy unless the Eggy ever lets me down on stage again.... Whew! sorry for the long winded post and Merry Christmas to all

I had a Mesa blow out on me once on stage. It is no reflection on the amps. It could happen to any tube amp. Glad yours worked out in the end.

Great news  !Happy for you! You have been kind of lucky,a friend of mine just got his OT tranny burned out on his Marshall Jcm 800 on stage !I'm interested by the "Premium Egnater replacement set" from TheTubeStore, since it's my usual tube shop.I didn't try their "prefered series" 7025's yet but it looks good.Although,i purchased some TS 12AX7's,one day, following their advice and didn't like them at all (but i'm in the minority.. ;) )..The TS5881 are supposed to be great, but it's possible they don't fit the Renegade's plate voltage... Anyway, Happy Christmas :) !
