Jesus this is a very nice guitar - very different after Les Pauling it for 3 years now, but man what a well made instrument!

Took me 2 minutes to set up in a different tuning and very impressed with the stability of the Gotoh Floyd (first Floyd for me - always had Edge's). The most startling thing about it was the finish in person - the pics don't capture the sparkle and looks fantastic with the chrome pups and hardware. Alder body with the maple neck sounds great - bright but not too much. Vulcanized neck is smooth - has a neck pocket squeak but I got a hammer, vice grips and some caulk that should take care of it :gethim: .

Oh calm down I'm just kidding.

Hows the sound compare to the les paul?

It's really closer than I expected - the Suhr is brighter and more articulate. I'm thinking that the Aldrich pups in the Suhr have a lot to do with that as they seem very balanced.

Other than that it's still my shitty playing

Reason i ask is because im in a everlasting debate to either get a early 70's les paul custom or a modern.

Do what I would do - sell shit at stupid prices and get both

Two different beasts for sure - you'll still sound like you either way. To me it's features and build quality. Get a mahogony bodied modern w/ a maple top?

Yea the specs i would get would be:
Mahogany Flame maple top
Mahogany/ Indian Rosewood
Charcoal burst (Silverburst)
The thicker modern eliptical neck 16" radius
aldrich pups.

I've retired my 76 and 79 LP Customs from live work in favour of a Modern ;) can't beat it for tone, playability and weight

With a good 3inch strap and being 18 weight isnt to much of a problem right now, Eventually (like a couple of years) i would get both but for now i dont know

Question is how close can the suhr sound to the les paul in thickness, and keeping higher notes thick as well.
