Fishman Fluence Moderns?

I'm looking at ordering a Schecter C-1 SLS Elite, and know nothing about these pickups. How do they compare to EMG 81/85's, (which I have in my current Schecter). Personally, I prefer passives, but my Schecter SCREAMS with the EMG's, just find them a bit over the top.

But also hard not to like this one. Pegasus/Sentient pickups, coil-tap, Tonepros bridge, locking tuners. But, the Schecter is decked out as well. Both from World Music Korea.

I have a set in a 7-string. They are not like EMGs IMHO. EMGs are their own thing, and are great for what they do. The Fluence to me essentially sound like “normal” pickups. Closest EMGs to me would be the 66/57, but even those aren’t all that similar to the Fluence.

I would say that the Fluence lacks the “character” or whatever that I hear in Duncans but I might prefer them to passive Dimarzios and Bare Knuckles that I’ve used.

They seem balanced from high to low, strong output but it won’t blast a Deluxe Reverb into overdrive.

The Modern mode triggers my tinnitus a bit; something with the high end. But the other mode is fine. Love how quiet they are.

I love the concept of fluence pickups, but found out that I hated the execution of the concept. I had the Classics in my charvel for a few weeks. They have this hi-fi- sound to them which is both good and bad. The KSE set and Abasi set sounded crystal clear, but too hi-fi for my ears. There's something about these pickups that gives me headaches. I hear them reach their peak immediately and the tone is constant with no change depending upon your attack.

A lot of people love fluence pickups. I'm not a fan. They don't sound like EMG's. I originally demo'd the Classics, KSE, Abasi, Modern, DT sets. I thought the KSE, and Abasi were the best and the DT and modern sets sounded the worst when compared with each other.

I replaced the 81 with a Modern in my main recording guitar and couldn’t be happier. They’re just as compressed, but less bass and more midrange, really tight, and super fast/responsive.

I did an A/B comparison and liked the Modern a lot better in the mix than the 81, more fun for me to play too. They’re great.

Yeah absolutely awesome , So far I have had the Moderns, Killswitch , DT and Willie Adler sets. They do have an active sound and feel, very powerful and immediate in response and yes kinda HiFi. If you only like passive tones you might not fall in love with them but a better sounding and feeling EMG yes I would say so.

I have the moderns in two of my guitars. I have blackouts and emg 57/66 in others. Pretty much only play the Fishmans now. They are a cut above all actives IMO

If you only like passive tones you might not fall in love with them but a better sounding and feeling EMG yes I would say so.

How do the Adlers compare to the others? I’ve tried all the other models except the Adler and classic and I like the Kiillswitch and Abasi best. I like the Killswitch because it’s the tightest and the Abasi sounded almost identical to the modern in my same guitar, but just a little more upper mids and a bit better cleans

I played several Schecters today at my local shop loaded with Fishman Fluence pups. Not sure what model they were, but I really did not care for them too much. There was a definite Hi-Fi sound and feel to them. Just not very organic sounding. Not that that's a bad thing, but I just think I'm a passive guy.

The Adler is a little more organic like a passive , a little less hi fi, more low mids than the Killswitch pickup.

The thing is there is a passive mode with the pickups if you pull out the tone pot. A lot of people including people who sell them aren't aware of that mode lol. The passive mode decompresses them a tad which has a slightly looser more organic feel IMHO.

Yep, I tried pulling the pot up and it is different for sure. Still not quite my thing though.
