Hi kids. First-time poster.

I was impressed w demos of the Catalinbread Zero Point, but read that it's more subtle than others. I find it odd that there is no speed control - Also read that there's some low-level flange audible when NOT engaged, but not sure about that...

Have one? Thoughts?

What other flangers are recommended in the 200 range?

And what flangers are less "subtle?"

Thx!

I'd recommend picking up a used Strymon Orbit. Many classic flange sounds on tap with a mix control so you can make them as intense or as mellow as possible. I bought a half dozen effects for playing around with steel guitar during covid and the meris mercury and strymon orbit were the standouts. I let the steel go so the Strymon went too but I probably should've kept it cause it was just one of those lifetime level pedals. Rich sounding with great parameter controls.

I had a Zero Point and i loved it.
Ended up needing cash and liquidating my pedals.

Are you going for the EVH flanger sound?
Not necessarily, though I do tend to like rougher-application stuff. Bitcrusher and square wave distortion etc.

For the record, I do have the ubiquitous BF-2 but use it chiefly for noise more than modulation.

One of THE most overlooked flangers is the MXR micro flanger.

I have one of those oversized Ibanez flangers the put out in the 90s. I really like it. My first flanger was an Ibanez, way back, and always liked them - a bit lighter touch, more of a nice swirly chorus to me.

A not subtle flanger? Check out the Ibanez Airplane flanger.
