FLG12K100, problem solved

I would like to know if the front loaded cab is tuned much differently than the rear loaded cab with the tone tubbys.

Reason I ask, in case you haven't followed the V30 vs. G12K100 thread, I just recieved one of the new German made FL cabs with the 100's, and am totally disappointed.
No bass to the cab at all and it "farts" out very easily. There is no "boom" that carries through the floor for some reason. To my ears, it also is extremely boxy sounding, sounds small like I'm playing through a 1x12 combo. It's like there isn't enough air movement through this cab or something..??..

Today I bought a Crate Blue Voodoo cab and swapped speakers from the Crate to the Diezel cab, and the 100's in the Crate cab. No better in the Diezel cab, but then the Crate cab sounded monsterous with the 100's. Bass that could just about vibrate the furniture across the room and just a general "huge" sound, when playing a baritone guitar on ch3 of the Herbert.

So that means the source of my disappointment is how the cab is tuned rather than the speakers as I initially thought.
Peter, Terry? Should I try a rear load with the Tubbys? Is the RL tuned a lot different? Is there some way I could port my FL cab do get more air moving? I've been super happy in the past with my Herbert on top of my Framus Cobra and VHT Fatbottom cabs, for comparison, which are also both front loaded. What makes this FL Diezel cab sound so much different?

Drill a large hole in the back of the K-100 cab and install an industrial strength hi-speed fan pointed at the speakers inside the cab, that should get you enough air movement through the cab...

There is a possibility that your cab is wired incorrect.
I bought a brand new randall 4*12 about a year ago, and when I played it the first time, it sounded like youre saying; no bass and had a strange EQ feel to it. I opened it and found that 2 speakers were connected out of phase with the other two, thus cancelling out a lot of sound. After I connected them correct the cab souned awesome!

I think you can check this by applying a small DC voltage to the cab and see if all speakers move in the same direction, if they don't you have found the problem.

Take care and good luck!

Clips would be of great help with settings as well, they are very easy to make these days.

My settings on ch3 are as follows

Gain: 2:00
volume:12:30
treble:2:00
Mid: 8:00
Bass:11:30

Mid Cut: on, Int: 12:00, level:5:00
Presence:8:00
Deep: 11:00

If I run through any of my other cabs I run the mids at 3:00 or better. I find myself killing the mids with this cab. This is the boxyness that I am referring to.

Does someone have a wiring diagram for this cab? I was just inside of it yesterday and there aren't any broken wires or anything.

Plug in your speaker cable ot the back of the cab. on the other end of the speaker cable , take a 9V battery. put the positive side of the battery to the tip of the 1/4" end & the negative to the shaft of the 1/4" plug (or as close as you can get to it) . Then watch which way the speakers move. if they move outward when the power is applied, its in phase. If they move backwards ( or one or 2 move backwards ) then its out of phase. then its just a simple switching of the wires on the inside.

The top two speakers moved out, and the bottom two moved in.

With that, which wire(s) should be switched?

On the bottom two speakers, simply take the 2 connecting wires on each cone and switch them to the opposing connectors of the same speaker for both speakers.

This is the answer to ALL your problems...
